You have to be ready for this
- The service was poor: it was very difficult to get our server's attention, and dirty dishes were not cleaned from our table during the meal
And what kills me the most it’s that the server demanded more tips , however, I had left a 13% of the total bill , but due to the pressure I added more
THIS BEHAVIOR FELT UNPROFESSIONAL AND LEFT A VERY UNPLEASANT IMPRESSION
Never come back to this place

Great food — shame the staff act like debt collectors
The hot pot was actually really good. Unfortunately, the service came with a side of attitude. After I paid my bill, the staff suddenly became very interested in my tipping plans — asking whether I’d be blessing them with cash or card, since their machine conveniently had no tip option.
I gave a cash tip, and the server looked at it like I’d handed him a receipt for disappointment. “What is this?” he asked — apparently forgetting that tips are optional, not mandatory donations.
And the highlight of the day? The female owner calling me back as I was leaving, giving me the kind of look you’d expect if I’d skipped out on the bill. Sorry, ma’am — I tipped already. My apologies it wasn’t the lottery win you were waiting for.
Fantastic food, but unless you enjoy being shamed over tipping, I’d suggest going somewhere that treats customers like actual customers — not walking cash machines
This place is your average hotpot spot. If you care about your soup, don’t come to this place because it serves bland mediocre Chinese soup. We ordered the plain chicken soup, it is tasteless and diluted. It is also not friendly on family with kids because they charge adult price for it. I would expect a lot for a hotpot dinner at 37.99 per person. Dessert was pretty good with black rice and sago seeds.
Service is average but there are like some staff who put on a face and looks annoyed all the time.
Atmosphere is pretty well decorated and nice.
I would not come back again as this is not an authentic hotpot spot.
Absolutely loved it — again!
My boyfriend and I discovered Hometown Hotpot & BBQ last year when we were visiting NYC, and we couldn’t stop thinking about it ever since. So this year, we brought his dad along to try it — and it was just as amazing as we remembered!
The food was fresh and flavorful, the sauces were endless (we loved trying different combinations!), and the staff were super friendly and attentive. Everything was perfectly cooked, and the atmosphere was cozy and welcoming.
It’s such a fun dining experience — especially if you enjoy grilling your own food or sharing a hotpot meal together. Definitely one of our favorite spots in New York. Highly recommended!
