my apartment was illegally destabilized. i filed a complaint with the dhcr in 2023 and, after 2 years, received a very faulty decision. in april 2025 i hired william gribben and daniel nakos to write and submit my PAR (appeal). the PAR was excellent. however, 6 months after it was submitted i learned that my building was part of a pre-foreclosure law suit. i contacted mr. gribben and mr. nakos via email to tell them i wanted to escalate my complaint and ask them to give their opinion on next steps/strategy. instead of doing that, they gave me 5 rounds of responses that basically amounted to "we have no desire to represent you" without directly saying it. this happened yesterday and i've already contacted other lawyers.

I was in a situation where I was a victim of targeting and an unjust ruling was made that said I had lost MY HOME! David Hershey - Webb promised to defend and fight for me on APPEAL! I called him and he was extremely rude over the phone. This is how he conducts business. His pointed tone and hollering saying his fee is $750 and no lawyer in nyc will work on a contingency basis. He didn’t even let me finish all I wanted to discuss. (After your reply, i respectfully decline. Whoever answered the phone, allegedly the owner or one of your lawyers I would never do business with that rude behavior!) I know I have a case and will look elsewhere- gladly!

William Gribben - I was surprised how poor communication and accountability he shows towards his clients. This is really surprising and disappointing when you see an attorney show disregards to clients in a vulnerable situation. First he would reply, then no replies, then promise to call back, then no call-back - his fellow colleagues were enabling it as well. No accountability - and my deadline has passed now. Quite sad.

Extremely cold, brutally indifferent to severe harassment claims done by landlords. We luckily talked with other lawyers that were incredibly sympathetic to our plight. William Gribben implied that our harassment was not a tenant rights problem. He talked down to us every step of the way, did not give us a shred of empathy, and even accused us of just wanting to become millionaires. It was cruel to say "The harassment doesn't interest me, but the rent stabilization does." It was also horrendously cruel to not tell us ahead of time about these things before the Skype call. We left that meeting feeling more traumatized than we began. I strongly recommend finding a law firm that works with the peasant class and will give you warmth in your troubling time dealing with abusive, illegal behavior from landlords.

I lived in a tent stabilized building and was dealing with a landlord who was constantly cutting corners on things like heat. There was also a rowdy neighbor living above. After it became clear over a course of months that the problems weren't going to be permanently resolved, I attempted to terminate my lease, but even that was difficult. I contacted Mr Gribben who gave me some no nonsense advice. My landlord immediately began to take me seriously after I mentioned having contacted a lawyer and offered me an offer to terminate the deal. Mr Gribben offered me some tips to make it better and save me some money. All this happened within a single consultation. I've been renting in NYC for 20 years and have never had to enlist a lawyer and like to be on good terms with my landlord, but this time, this wasn't a possibility and Mr. Gribben was there to help. I know they have some clients who pay more rent than I do and have a lot more money, so I appreciated that they helped a small fry like myself.

Our attorney, Milad Momeni, listened to our issues with patience and empathy, and ensured we understand our options at every step of the process. We worked with Jesse Gribben after we discovered our landlord was charging us an illegal amount in a rent-stabilized building. Jesse was available almost every time we needed him, was reassuring, and took our concerns very seriously. In the end, we received a settlement that was acceptable to both parties. If you are a tenant who needs assistance with a less than scrupulous landlord, you must go with Himmelstein, McConnell, Gribben etc. No one looks out for you the same.

Jesse was extremely knowledgeable, professional, timely and had a natural skill for cutting through the noise to get down to what mattered to resolve the (complex) situation at hand. He went to work quickly and wrote to the Board based on information I gave him, responding promptly to my concerns and to the Board with well-worded, convincing (to me, and apparently to them) letters to support my case.
