Just ordered hush puppies. I miss those.
I was a little disappointed by the size. They looked small. However I loved the flavor and texture. I didn’t eat them fresh. I traveled, and then ate them later. What they lacked in size they made up for in flavor. Delicious little balls of fluffy cornmeal delight. Next time I’ll try more of the menu.
Let's start by stating Chef Walter is THE BEST!! This man was kind and patient with me as I navigated placing a very complicated order for my family. He actually put something special together for me that carefully balanced all the items that I needed in a much more logical way. As the order was being prepared, he treated me to some of their delicious yams. Now I am a huge fan of yams, and I can separate what's good and bad......and these were simply AMAZING! I thoroughly enjoyed and appreciated each and every bite. You could taste the love and care that was put into the cooking process. My family enjoyed every bite of their food and we will most definitely be back for more! Do yourself a favor and give them a try, you won't be disappointed!!
$25 each for two small orders of catfish nuggets, sweet potatoes, and greens. The sweet potatoes and greens were fine. The catfish nuggets, however, tasted like they had never even seen seasoning before, like someone had informed the catfish nuggets that they would never get to meet seasoning due to bad behavior. They were incredibly dry and bland. I didn't know that soul food could taste two-dimensional. This is the kind of thing that makes people think that a "soul food" restaurant is owned by people with no soul.
I am recovering from surgery and I'm legitimately pissed. Soul food is supposed to be made with love. It's legitimately supposed to be healing for the people who eat it.
Please fix it for whomever comes next.
I purchased 3 orders of shrimp and chips
New staff, food was very oily last night barely seasoned
First time I didn't enjoy my meal,and I have been coming since 1st week opened.
Tried to put a review had to edit my first review.
Last night was Christmas eve. I ordered 2 shrimp/fries and whiting/fries.
Shrimp did not taste the same maybe lack of seasoning, fries were oily. Couldn't eat all my fries and you only give a handful. Server and cook last night all over the place even my bag/containers were oily. Won't be back for awhile and if same cook is there will go elsewhere.
The food here is great even though it's harlem.In brooklyn, I especially love the shrimp and grits here as well as their yams. When it's crowded is crowded, the wait can be a little long, but the quality of food is incredible. I also especially love the catfish bites. I had a talk with the owner.I just want to say thank you for your good food.And once again, thank you for your services in the United States Army
