The farm buildings are lovely, featuring big windows that look out over well-kempt gardens. The restaurant—an expertly restored old barn—has a great atmosphere and very welcoming staff.
While my colleagues' meals all looked delicious, my quiche with bacon jam was a letdown. The texture was more like sponge cake, and the jam was a bit too sweet, resembling chutney. It wasn’t for me, but the rest of the experience was delightful.

I had the absolute pleasure of enjoying the Easter menu at Groot Phesantekraal Restaurant, and it was nothing short of exceptional.
From the moment we arrived, the experience felt warm and thoughtfully curated. A special mention goes to Hakeem, whose attentive, friendly service elevated the entire afternoon. The kind of service that feels effortless, yet makes you feel completely looked after.
The menu itself was a celebration of flavour and abundance. We started with a beautifully prepared pickled fish, delicate, balanced, and full of that nostalgic Easter comfort, yet refined in execution. It set the tone perfectly.
The main course was an absolute feast. A generous selection of steak, pork, and lamb, each cooked to perfection and showcasing the quality of the ingredients. Every bite felt intentional, rich without being overwhelming, and deeply satisfying.

We were on our way to shops and then decided to be spontaneous. We too a left turn into this wine estate after saying for a long time, we need to experience it.
The service was great, lekker vibes, beautiful estate and lovely wines. We were entertained byba bird during the tasting and we enjoyed the bread and olive oil witj the tasting.Some pics to follow

What a wonderful day! Service is amazing we had Tristan for tasting - very well informed polite and professional. Then Akim served us lunch exceptional! A little glitch with salad which the team was super quick to correct. Thank you for a lovely lunch beautiful venue and excellent service. HIGHLY recommend

The wine selection was decent, but unfortunately the food experience was disappointing. I would strongly recommend avoiding the pork loin chop — it was served extremely undercooked and had no flavour. When we raised it with the manager, we were told it was “cured,” but the dish still felt poorly executed and inedible. Based on our experience and some of the other reviews mentioning similar issues with pork dishes, it may be worth them removing pork off their menu.
Our waiter also accidentally spilled our mimosas over the table and onto our clothes. We understand that accidents happen, but it was disappointing that the drinks were still charged for.
If you visit, I would suggest sticking to the wine, starters, or a cheese platter rather than the main courses. Overall, the experience did not meet expectations, which was disappointing.

We love this restaurant and returned after 5 years of living further away. The ambiance and service was unbeatable but we were disappointed in the food. Very upper class or #next level, but I am sorry to say that although the presentation was clearly with a touch of fine dining, the flavours were lacking and did not come all together on the plate. Sometimes less is more........

An excellent experience. Outdoor tables in courtyard under the trees between the tasting room & the restaurant.
Our waitress was helpful & friendly
The menu was more ambitious than I had expected - fine dining style with bigger portions. You might struggle if you prefer more basic options. I loved the Globe Artichoke starter. The fish main was very tasty - it was Angel Fish on the day. The pate starter was huge.
The winelist was very reasonably priced.
I would return in a heartbeat
I would suggest booking a wine tasting before lunch - we didn’t & regretted that we hadn’t

The establishment has great difficulty in serving a wine tasting and coffee in the same venue (although nextdoor). Associated with this mentality, they're probably incapable of working out how many return customers they've lost in consequence, but their competitors probably thank them all the same.

We booked over the phone for a same day seating on a sunny day, the confirmation did not specify that outdoor tables were not available and were forced to seat inside
One of the meals we had was off, I think the steak, later that evening both my partner and I had heavy diarrhoea
