I’d like to thank Groom & Co for their excellent work carrying out the installation of a new flat roof. Henry and the team were a pleasure to deal with and I’d highly recommend their professional service to others

I have used Groom & Co several times over the past year and have found them to be the consummate professionals. Henry and the team couldn’t do enough and their quality of work is top notch. I’ve also recommended them to other friends who’ve needed a roofer locally. They do fantastic work.

Very poor service and communication. I contacted Groom & Co after our tenants had discovered a leak in the kitchen’s flat roof and it was agreed replacement was the best option. My inital experience was similar to that of other reviews here and felt confident that, despite being more expensive, it would be worth the extra money. As well as the roof, they also offered to change the skylight for a smart double glazing one and after showing me a photo of an example of a sleek angled one, I agreed. The facias, guttering and down pipe were also to be replaced. I was sent photos of the finished job and paid in full. There were some big blobs of white mastic used to secure the skylight but I was assured these would cure clear. Shortly after, our tenants sent some photos from different angles showing that the work was not carried out to a good standard. In addition to the mastic which had not cured clear, issues included; The skylight was completely flat and not angled. Significant draft coming through on one side. The lead from the edge of roof overlapped the appeture and was not trimmed back square meaning it looked off center from the inside. The sticker had been left on the glass. Remedial work was agreed however after that, Emails were not responded to. After a few months and having moved back to the property, I eventually managed to get through on the phone and a date was agreed however they were a no show. A last minute cancellation followed and at the 3rd attempt 2 guys showed up. They fitted a frame to the skylight and trimmed the lead. Within in days of this remedial work a crack in the glass began to appear from where the lead had been trimmed back. It was then revealed they had just masticed some plastic on top of the glass and done nothing to solve the draft. They agreed to inspect, but again it became difficult to get a response from. Eventually Henry agreed to pop round one morning, after having to call and chase, his Foreman showed up, confirmed there was a crack and put Henry on the phone. Henry denied culpability but offered to replace it with a plastic dome. I agreed as he said it could be done quickly as was concerned for my family’s safety regarding the crack. After 3 months (again after chasing) a date was offered, which I accepted. Again, they were a no show and after being challenged on this he said he never agreed to it (he did however offer the date in writing)! In addition to the skylight, bubbles have appeared in the flat roof, there are pencil marks all over the facias and the boiler condenser pipe was not connected to the new down pipe that was installed. Overall the quality of work was poor and the change in attitude and contactability after payment was received was deeply concerning.

Had a big problem with the gutters in our property which could not resolve with other contractors Henry was able to get his team of over 6 guys to attend promptly and spent the whole day fixing ,replacing and where necessary cleaning and repairing the gutters.The team were a friendly and courteous group and would highly recommend them to others.Lionel HUDDY

Henry and his professional work force were not only punctual but polite and well presented. They came to my rescue with an emergency repair during a period of torrential rain. It was refreshing to deal with a blue collar company that still up held values or integrity and fairness. They left no mess and the process was seamless from start to finish. Henry was recommended by a friend and we couldn't be happier with the quality of the work completed. We had the entire roof of our 1930s semi replaced, as well as the front bay and porch. Chimney stack was also repaired. Henry and his team were always polite, professional and tidy and liaised with our neighbours when needed. Always punctual and responsive and they worked really hard. Will be using again in a few months when we have our lower extension roof done.
