Two weeks ago we brought our pickup truck to GRIFFIS to have our check engine light diagnosed. They were busy after just moving to their new location, but after a couple of days they said that the check engine issues weren't a big deal, but a gasket under the engine was going to need replacing and would be expensive. We ok’d the work since we need the truck. We had to call every few days trying to get an update, and were told our service person would call us back, but they never did. Finally, after two weeks, we decided to just go get the truck and bring it somewhere else. They said it was finished and charged us just over $4100 for the repair and that the check engine light problem was fixed too. Within moments of leaving the shop, the check engine light came back on. We brought it today to a different mechanic. The truck hardly had the power to get to the other mechanic that was less than two miles away. The other mechanic found that the Griffis mechanic left most of the turbo hoses unconnected, so we had to pay $100 for all the locations to be diagnosed to be fixed properly. Then he was able to find the original reason the check engine light was coming on, which was a worn sheathing on a sensor wire that was fixed for $45.
We used to trust Griffis, but we will never again use their services and allow ourselves to be ripped off for substandard work.

Regarding the repair, the work performed was based on the issues that were identified during our inspection and authorized prior to repairs being completed. The repair invoice reflects the work that was approved and performed on the vehicle, not simply a diagnosis of the check engine light.
We also take concerns about workmanship very seriously. If there was an issue related to any hose connection or any part of the repair we performed, we would have welcomed the opportunity to inspect the vehicle ourselves and address the concern under our warranty procedures before another facility made repairs. Unfortunately, once another shop performs repairs or alterations, it becomes difficult for us to verify what conditions existed when the vehicle left our facility.
As for the communication concerns, we sincerely apologize if you felt updates were not provided as promptly as expected. Moving into a brand-new facility while continuing to serve our customers created some unusual scheduling challenges, but that is not the experience we strive to provide.
We value every customer who trusts us with their vehicle, and we are disappointed to hear that your confidence in our shop has been affected. We would welcome the opportunity to review the repair order, the findings from the other facility, and discuss the situation directly with you. I would leave a zero star if I could. Dropped off my 64 impala for over heating, 3500 hard earned money down the drain. Told me to get more money to run more test, this is my truth, don’t truss them

The repairs on this 1964 Impala were completed on 8/19/2024, and this review is being posted nearly two years later. During that time, we were never contacted regarding any unresolved concerns.
This vehicle was brought to us as an older classic car with numerous pre-existing issues and unknown repair history from multiple previous repairs and modifications over the years. We performed the specific repairs that were authorized and did our best to help make the vehicle safer and more roadworthy. Several additional repairs and recommendations were discussed at the time but were declined.
Classic vehicles, especially ones with unknown history, can require extensive ongoing repairs and diagnosis, and unfortunately repairing only part of the issues does not eliminate every existing problem with the vehicle.
We believe we provided fair value for the work performed and handled the vehicle professionally based on the information and authorization provided at that time.
We are always willing to speak with customers respectfully and in person regarding concerns, even long after repairs are completed. Please contact us if you wish to do so.

I had Griffis handle the lift work on my Tacoma and I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out. The quality of the work is top-notch—everything looks clean, well-fitted, and professionally done. You can tell they take pride in what they do.

Initial problem found and fixed. While test driving, the serpentine belt blew apart, so that was fixed also. Very professional and excellent service. Would recommend them highly.

I was an hour and a half away from home with my two young kids and my car kept on dying on the side of the road. They slipped me in even though they were slammed and even helped me with a rental car (so we weren’t stranded), snacks for the kids, helped install my car seats and more. This place actually cares about your safety. To say they went above and beyond is an understatement. Highly recommend. Thank you guys, for everything!!
