I had 1 bedroom - furniture was 1 5 drawer
Dresser which had the drawers out, 2 small night stands & 1 king bed which had to be disassembled. The second room - an office- just had the furniture moved to the center of the room. That was 1 desk, 1 file cabinet, & 1 small shredder. The charge was$149 per hr
Minimum 2 hrs. They were finished before 2 hrs.
On the positive side- they were careful with furniture.
The movers were great. Unfortunately the moving experience with the company was not. I was told a team of 5 guys and 2 trucks would arrive at my house between 8am-10am. I was called between that time to let me know they were running late and it would be about 10-12. Between that time, I received a call saying it was now 12-2. Finally, 3 guys and 1 truck arrived at 2:30. A few hours later, another guy came making a total of 4 guys. The second truck showed up around 545pm. They didn’t finish moving and unloading until 9:00pm. It went from 8am-10am originally, to finishing up at 9pm. Again, the movers were nice and professional. It was the scheduling that was just it good.
Great experience overall. They showed up exactly on time, were friendly, worked hard, and put everything exactly where we wanted it. They actually finished the move faster than estimated, which saved me money too. Everything went smoothly and I would definitely use them again.
They come to my house on August/2/26, for moving a piano, my house is brand new, through the moving, they damaged wall, entrance door and bedroom door also they cracked the wood on stairs.
I called to the company and talk with the Peter, he provided me his cell number to upload the damages, after I uploaded the pictures , I called every single day for follow up, and the person who responded the call , told they received the pictures and Peter will contact me, they never call me back and also in the past 3 days, They even don’t respond to my call anymore.
I don’t know who in this company I should call to take responsibility for the damages, they did.
I am so disappointed.
I chose Athena's based on reviews. I've learned quite a few costly mistakes which I need to share. Knowing I have to close escrow and vacate my property by 8/15, I was assured by Peter (owner, senior level point of contact), not to worry. Based on reviews, I trusted.
Initially, movers were to be there between 12:00pm and 12:30pm. Once they were late I called and was told that they got tied up on the move before mine and were running late. Ok. Things happen and that's reasonable. But was still assured not to worry.
They eventually arrived at 8PM. Now I was worried. Towards the end of loading (which I and my son helped with, even though we were paying for it), I was told that they could hold my stuff overnight and deliver first thing in the morning since it was already 10:45PM. I knew I should've trusted my gut.
All in all, I was quoted initially $1,000 and ended up paying just shy of $2,000 (including tips for the movers who were very good)
Not vacating the property cost me another $500 because my escrow contract dictated a $500 penalty per day. Peter assured me not to worry.
Two dining room chairs were broken by one of the movers. That's ok, these things happen especially during a household move. My calls and voicemails to Peter were never returned on how I can file a claim. Well, I guess I have to eat that cost as well.
Lessons for others:
1) Don't accept or agree to an afternoon move. Try for a morning one. So in case you want your washer and dryer hooked up, fridges, etc. All these ancillary items will push back the afternoon appointments.
2) Understand the difference between binding and non-binding estimates.
3) Review the option for insurance and also consider third party insurance
The good part about this were the actual movers. These guys all hustled. Carlos (seemed to be the supervisor of the other 3 guys) was awesome. Nothing but kudos to the guys that did the actual heavy lifting and moving.
Athena movers did a great job. The complete move was done at an incredible pace. It definitely paid iff to have 3 movers. Movers were friendly and did whatever i asked if them. Would definitely use them again.
These guys are the best! The team showed up on time, safely packed what we needed them to pack, loaded our stuff safely and carefully, then unloaded and placed it in our new home just as carefully. They even assembled some of the furniture that we needed help with. All at a very reasonable price!
They did a good job. They came on time and worked right away from the start. It took 3 1/2 hours to complete the whole process. The price is reasonable. Actually they are cheaper compared to other movers. If I will move out again I will get them for sure. Highly recommend.
Bait & Switch
Absolute bait-and-switch. I received an online quote that seemed fair, but everything after that was unacceptable. The crew arrived four hours late with zero communication. Once my belongings were fully loaded, they held my items hostage and demanded double the original quote to complete the delivery.
We refused to be extorted and told them we would rather donate the items than reward this behavior. Despite our explicit refusal to authorize the new amount, the company went ahead and illegally processed the doubled charge on my card anyway. This is an unauthorized transaction and a fraudulent business practice.

Excellent communication, very friendly and professional, and were able to accommodate me on short notice. I couldn't have pulled off moving into an upstairs apartment, singing along to my music AND be done in a matter of hours. Thank you for moving my pandemic-treadmill up those stairs lol. Rafa, Manuel, and Peter were my guys. Highly recommend :)
