I see a lot of bad reviews due to poor service - it was not our case, but we also went on a wednesday at noon, there was not a lot of people. The staff was nice and service was good. The attention to detail is also on point for a brasserie at this price range. Plus it's beautifully decorated. I had a paté en croute on entrée, saucisse purée as main dish and a kougelof for dessert, everything was tasty. I feel this the exact kind of quality place that suffers from being too crowded at peak time and therefore service suffers. Just go on a weekday for lunch. It's amazing
DO NOT BOTHER. This restaurant must be riding on a very old reputation.
From the moment we entered, the staff couldn’t have been less interested in helping us. It was later in the evening, there were many tables sitting completely empty, and the first thing they asked was whether or not we had a reservation—all the while looking us up and down as if we had no right to be there.
Once seated, we were completely ignored while other tables around us, including some who arrived after us, had their orders taken.
Eventually, we ordered. They never brought the cocktails we ordered.
The food was probably the most disappointing of all. The onion soup didn’t have any onions in it! It was covered with a tiny bit of standard, tasteless cheese. Inside was a flavorless brown colored broth with tons of pieces of dried out bread and nothing else. The bread used was most likely the bread left over from the previous days’ diners as it was the same flavor and look of the sliced bread in our basket. It was so stale that, even after having sat in the broth, the edges of the small pieces of bread were hard.
The beef cheek was inedible. It looked like a plateful of black meat that was so overcooked it couldn’t be chewed. It was also tasteless. The purée served with it was watery and probably not made in-house.
This place was like a bad school cafeteria. A real shame since it really isn’t that difficult to make things right. Thousands of other places in Paris do it just fine.
SKIP THE OUT OF DATE REPUTATION. DO NOT PASS GO!
