Great customer service and solid prices. I checked out Gartner's to buy some cardboard boxes. Someone on staff proactively asked if I needed help and assisted me with getting everything I needed. They even helped tape up the boxes to make it easier for me to transport home. Will be coming back.
25 years and five apartments in the West 70s, and Gartners is my favorite hardware store. It is deceptively large and stocks nearly everything. Staff is super helpful if you can’t find what you need. And it’s by far the cleanest hardware store you’ll find in the city.
They recently helped cut a brass door kickplate to size for my front door, and replaced a broken lightbulb no questions asked. This is my go-to place.

Great spot. Staff is helpful, store is clean, pleasant and well stocked, and prices are reasonable. Highly recommend. Had my keys copied here and they did a great job.

Got keys copied from here and they used the wrong key base so it didn’t work. Not well trained, would go somewhere else for key copying.

My elderly mother recently visited to return a fan she'd purchased within 7 days and not used, thinking she could trust this store, but they have a no-return policy on fans specifically that was not mentioned when she purchased the fan. The cashier did not reference the policy during checkout and engaged her in conversation throughout the transaction so that she didn't see the posted policy. They were dismissive and unwilling to produce a manager to discuss the issue, claiming the manager was at lunch (at 3 pm) with no estimate of a return time. They would not even give a name for the manager or way to reach them. If stores like this want to survive in a world of Amazon they need to provide basic customer service.

Just needed a plug- they doors were closed at the beginning of their hours and again closed 10 minutes before the posted closing time, refusing to re-open the door while other customers shopped. Can’t trust their hours.

Abdul just changed the tricky bulb in my halogen lamp and refused to accept any money. Gartner's has always had top notch service and that's because they hire the right people.

Gartner Hardware is a one of a kind store! They have everything you can imagine and a bit more.
The staff is friendly, knowledgeable and take their time to help customers with their questions. The store moved to this location recently and it was a great improvement in terms of organization. You could spend a full day in the store without getting bored and discover items you didn’t even know you needed.
