We had an amazing day here.
What a beautiful initiative , to help endangered species.
Our guide Jason was awesome. We learnt so much. Prices were really affordable. This is a none profit organisation, so they rely heavily on sponsorships and tours.
The animals are all well taken care of and the staff were well trained and kind towards them. My family and I had so much fun.
I will definitely return.
The Ann van Dyk Cheetah Centre – De Wildt (Originally the De Wildt Cheetah Research Centre) was the first establishment in the world to breed captive cheetahs on a sustainable basis and was the firstCites approved cheetah breeding facility in the world.
The aim of the Centre is to maintain a viable genetic pool of not only the cheetah but also the African wild dog (second most endangered carnivore in Africa), for release back into their natural habitat as and when space becomes available.
Thank you for taking the time to send a review, we are glad you enjoyed the tour.

Time well spent.
We had an eye-opening morning tour at the Ann Van Dyk Cheetah Center. We knew that cheetahs are a beautiful animal but were amazed at the beauty of the African Wild Dog as well. Mickey was an informative and entertaining guide. I learned so much about the various animals at the center. Well worth the visit!

Exclusive Cheetah Run & Guided Tour
Did the four hour long private tour of a cheetah run (three cheetahs) and then a drive through the various enclosures in the rescue center. Aside from the plethora of stunningly beautiful cheetahs that we saw, there were also servals, meerkats, honey badgers, hyenas and vultures (three types). We saw a feeding of wildebeests and zebra and wild dogs. The wild dogs that were fed was a pack of four and it was ABSOLUTELY PHENOMENAL to see and hear them go into hunting mode. They are pack animals that ensure a sense of chaos in their target to disorient and confuse it before pouncing. They did exactly that with two going clockwise and two going counter-clockwise while making sounds to communicate and confuse the prey. There’s nothing that can describe this hunting sound - nothing we’ve ever heard of before.
The guides themselves were excellent and shockingly knowledgeable about the animals. E.g. Wild Dogs use their ears to listen to the heart beats of other animals to identify the weakest in the herd to target. Vultures can spot movement (or not) from a few hundred meters int he air to identify carcasses to approach for feeding (nature’s cleaners).
If you are in the area and are interested in animals, conservation and/or cheetahs/wild dogs, you will do yourself a disservice if you don’t dedicate a half day to come here to experience it for yourself!!!
