Delicious breakfast to start the day well in Rome
De Santis Santa Croce offers a delicious and satisfying breakfast in Rome. The variety of options available is impressive, and each dish is prepared with great care and quality. The quick and friendly attention of the staff contributes to a very pleasant experience. It is the perfect place to start your day with energy before exploring the wonders of Rome. Highly recommended!
That's 116 years of goodness..!!
It was a long time since I passed through this bar / bakery and I must say that I was surprised again. In addition to the fact that I have 116 years of history that something will have to be worth, I found a welcoming and personal environment efficient and polite. Special mention for Alessandro always ready to answer every question with education and professionalism. Federico, the Owner, always at work and ready to explain ingredients and how to prepare products in plain sight in the kitchen behind the large windows. The 2 kg croissant is something unique...!! Hearty and tasty filling as only a refined pastry can do. Also recommended for pastry mignon!! Super!!
It is indeed a neighborhood "old" shop,Great quality, good value for money.
We are loyal customers ,when we are in Rome and in the ares around the shop. It is the classic traditional neighborhood pastry shop, very popular among local residents. The place is indeed an "old" pastry shop, as documented by a diploma posted on the wall. It has a large variety of pastries, both in traditional size and in one bite (mignon) size, baked in the adjoining laboratory. The quality is remarkable. Don't forget the cafeteria: excellent cappuccinos and coffee. In fact, if we pass by it, we stop for breakfast with coffee and croissants. Inside there are still some small white square tables, with marble tops, as was the style in the early 1900s. Outside, however, there are large terraces covered with canopies where customers love to sit for a quick meal or an aperitif Recommended.

Excellent breakfast bar
Bar-pastry shop with a wide choice of croissants and cafeteria. Here I had an excellent breakfast, spending the right amount, with cappuccino and croissant stuffed with a really well made pistachio cream. For lovers of novelties, here you can also find the cubic croissant, very fashionable lately. Quick service.
Popular pub/cafe
Called here several times, for brunch, lunch and aperitivi. A busy place, very popular with locals which offers a range of sandwiches, sweets and pastries as well as drinks. In the evenings, the bar offers a special 'aperitivo' deal with cocktails and extensive (and substantial) snacks. Proved a life-saver on a Sunday evening when most local restaurants are closed. The Bottega Trattoria De Santis next door is also to highly recommended for a full restaurant service at very reasonable prices.
At the checkout they don't even say hello!
It could have been very good but in my opinion the pastry didn't seem fresh, but from the day before. We took a small, rather sized platter divided into 2 with two miniature pastries and two drinks, one of which was €22.00. There can be no doubt that the person welcomed us well, except the man at the house who didn't even respond to our greeting when we paid.

Not all that glitters now
Attracted by the peculiarity of the giant croissant, we booked one for a dinner with friends... Terrible!!! The central part of the croissant was completely raw, certainly poorly leavened... Could it have been a coincidence?! I wonder: what's the point of requesting a reservation 24 hours in advance (more than enough time for preparation) if it's not edible?! It's a shame because the idea is delicious, the hazelnut cream is good, the Chantilly one a little less, too much cream. With 20 euros (price paid) we expected better and perhaps we could have gotten more in other pastry shops. I don't think we'll give him another chance.
Last time
The bar has many good things and for breakfast and as a bee, we go there every now and then because we always like to come there but the last time I really didn't like what happened. I sit down at the table one morning for breakfast, I see that the others next door order, everyone, then I ask and am told that you only do it for regular customers! Well, first of all I didn't find it a nice answer and you can't even hear such a thing because even if I don't come every day, I'm still a customer!!!! I'm sorry to have to write it but we're at it for a while.

😏
Attracted by a super review seen on social media, the reality is very different. Croissants and coffee below expectations. The bartender even advised me against the chocolate "cube" because it was "too full" and therefore I would have risked not eating it all. The place is a bit shabby, which is a shame because it has potential. Courteous staff
TO AVOID, LOW LEVEL LOCAL FOOD
Terrible experience, they try to advertise via social media, with the giant croissant, beware, extremely poor product quality, really basic and old dessert display case, few products and poorly displayed, not as in the photo, 4 tables inside, abandoned place to himself, cardboard under the tables and abandonment of other unusable objects such as warehouse. Both sweet and savory, presented in horrendous dishes and presentation I leave to imagine and unprofessional staff. Avoid it if you can!

Good but not great
We went to this place with friends to eat the giant croissant I had seen in a reel. I booked since something like this rightly needs to be booked and the guy tells me that since the room is small we're lucky because it's the last reservation they take. I arrive at the restaurant and surprisingly my "booked" table is actually outside, when I pointed this out I was told that there are heaters outside (electric ones that were always blowing up). We also ordered 4 lattes, mine arrived cold, a shame because the foam on top was really good, well made but cold. The croissant itself wasn't bad but from the reel I had seen I would have expected better.
