Verified Company
We used Davidson & Co to fix a leaking roof. Unfortunately, it was a very unsatisfactory experience, and I would definitely not recommend them to others. There were three major issues:
1) They significantly overcharged us. Initially, they provided us with a relatively competitive quote for a smallish job, but once they were on the roof they quickly 'found' more work that needed to be done, and we naively agreed to a quote which was substantially more than the original. We subsequently found out this was more than double what we should have been charged for the work. They then tried to sell us even more work for an extortionate amount, but we declined. Upon challenge, they did agree to reduce the price a little but it still ended up much higher than it should have done.
2) They didn't finish the job. Whilst initially it looked good and there was a lot of work happening, they ended up leaving us in the lurch having not finished all the work - there were still a few small but important jobs that needed done. We have chased multiple times but clearly they are not returning to complete the work.
3) They didn't clean up after themselves. There is still a whole load of debris in the garden, and they have also left some huge boards in our house which are very difficult to dispose of. I will be referring them to the council for fly tipping at our property.
There is also something quite suspicious about the company. The work was actually done by a different roofing company called Matrix & Sons, which is under HMRC investigation for not filing accounts. Also most if not all of the 5 star reviews on Google appear to be fake when you actually look into them.
Unfortunately we were too trusting and thought this was a reputable company, but we have learned our lesson. I would strongly encourage others to avoid them and go with a more professional outfit. We will be reporting them to trading standards.
