Hi Tim, I'm Jon, the owner of Custom Climates for 18 years now... Interesting that your account has only 1 review posted, a 1 star, and doesn't use your name to "warn" people not to use our company... but regardless... For everyone reading this, we did an extensive inspection and evaluation of Tim C.'s AC system and offered two solutions to moving his ductwork out from the basement along with assessing problems he is having with his AC. We were working on a quote that would address a leaking AC unit and reconfiguring the ductwork so that it would not be interfering with his headroom in the basement that he is currently finishing. Our approach was far more involved than any other company even suggested and after the initial discussion this was what Tim wanted a quote on. So while it took longer than expected, it was not straight forward as he outlines. With impatience Tim was calling asking for the quote repeatedly and so I contacted him via phone to discuss it. Without letting me explain what the quote entailed and why it may have been more, he only wanted to tell me why the job "shouldnt cost that much" and that his other quote was far less. He spent 10 min asking me questions that he wouldnt let me answer, and not listening when I was trying to explain to him that if he simply wanted the ducts moved and not reconfigured as Brian had recommended then our price would be comparable to the others. After not getting anywhere in the conversation and Tim clearly being primarily concerned about price (mentioning it with almost every statement), I found it best to tell him that I didnt think this was a job that we were interested in. It is people like this that think that contractors and tradesman don't deserve to make a living and what we do has no value because we work with our hands. I won't put my employees in a situation where they are the professionals and the ones with years of experience, certifications, and licenses... only to have homeowners like this tell them how to do their job and how much is "reasonable" for it to cost. Custom Climates has been around for a long time and our reputation speaks for itself. Had Tim done even 2 minutes of research he would have known that he was speaking to the owner of the company and not "another person"... and had he just stopped talking and listened to what I was explaining to him, he would have had his quote for around $3k... Weaponizing review sites like Google is a very common tactic for people like Tim. Unfortunately all I can do is leave a response to his 1 star.
