Traditionally, three stars are the top boy's rating. This gets 1 star from me because it is the worst jerk rice, peas, and veggies I have had. The Jerk Pork was not fresh, and the meat selection seemed to be of poor quality
Well, you got my medium-price dish ($). I'm disappointed. My dinner was not fulfilling!
And! I had to go across the street to get cash for my meal. You only accept cash, and the cash machine (ATM) was out of order!
Absolutely DISGUSTING FOOD! AND I MEAN IT. The soup was VERY POORLY MADE. Mac n cheese is better off in the nearest garbage can. A racoon wouldn't even eat this nastiness. Lipton makes soup 10x better, guaranteed. I've eaten here a couple times BY FORCE of my job location, and I swear I regret it every single time. Enough is enough. Change your chef! I seriously don't think they need any business until such is addressed. Do nottttt come here and waste your money. When I called, she said "what's the problem"....YOUR HANDS ARE MISS LADY...GET OUT THE KITCHEN!
Walk in and get the authentic feel of a home cooked Jamaican meal. Wish I ordered a variety of different dishes because my kids mouth was on fire but he loved it. Pair your jerk chicken dish with the sorrel drink - tastes like a tropical ginger beer. Cabbage was cooked soft and not soggy. Get your jerk chicken fix at the country life. Worth a visit.
Today was the first time I visited this restaurant. I came here hoping to find the same jerk chicken I tasted a long time ago when an neighborhood auntie cooked some. I ordered jerk chicken with rice and beans (mixed with some kind of sauce). I was a dollar short, but the very gracious front desk person didn’t mind. While I was waiting for the food, I was admiring the cleanliness and the homely ambiance of the restaurant. Soon I got the food and hurried back home. As soon as I opened the lid, the smell and the look of the food captivated me. I knew immediately I went to the right place. I didn’t wait any longer. I dug right in. I was right. The food took me back at that exact moment when I had my first ever jerk chicken. I am so glad to have a place like this so close to home.
Everytime I come I get a small amount of meat BUT when a MALE in my family gets food for us they get MORE. Such a shame cause I live so close by and walk by every single day.. for 16.70 for a small order and to add 1 n half so I was only going to get 2 oxtail...I had to pay Extra for ONE OXTAIL AND A HALF. Why is this? Also when asking to pay for more then the one n half oxtail they told me NO cause another customer already called meanwhile there was about 2 oxtail left in the tray behind the glass. never again will I buy from here bttomw right of photo is NOT AN OXTAIL.
Best escovitch snapper I have ever had ( and I have had many). Fish was juicy, just the right amount of seasoning and spiciness. Had it with roasted breadfruit, fried bammy and sweet plantains. The owners, Bobby and Karen make you feel welcome. Not as well known or glitzy as overrated The Door and others, but definitely worth the trip or call.
This would be an absolute no for me again. Went here today and ordered some Jerk Chicken and Rice, Long story short the chicken was extremely dry then I realized they had reheated it in the microwave. I waited about 15 minutes for my food even after she had already made a bowl with rice and veggies. She took about 10 minutes in the back reheating the chicken. I don’t know how this place has 4 1/2 stars. Would not recommend at all.
