The restaurant has a strong smell of old oils to their wood or something. They forgot to put our lo mein to the order and we asked to cancel but they insisted to cook when we asked for check. We ended up asking to pack home and we paid. We were eating other food okay, but other table ordered stinky tofu and that smell ruined our dining experience. It was the strongest stinky tofu smell we’ve ever smelled (we had Chinese in our table and confirmed). We ordered steamed live fish which said market price. We didn’t expect $75 for this fish which we didn’t ask when ordering so we know it’s our fault. However, the fish is chewy (not fresh) and definitely isn’t worth $75. I’d have given 3-4 stars until we smelled stinky tofu. They should have some kinda plan for stinky tofu. We wanted to leave as soon as possible but had to wait for lo mein because they wanted to serve it to us.

Regarding the lo mein, our kitchen prepares dishes in the order they are received, and by the time your cancellation request came in, it had already started cooking. If it were still uncooked, we would have gladly canceled it.

We also want to clarify that we do not serve stinky tofu, and there is no such item on our menu. We understand how certain smells can affect a dining experience.

As for the steamed live fish, we do list it at market price, and we understand how important transparency is. Live fish is one of our signature dishes and is served to nearly every table. It may not have matched your personal taste, but we can assure you it is always fresh.

Price too high for the quality of food. Service is usually bad, you have to ask for everything several times. They won't replenish water and tea. Etc.

Have a double date at Congee last night. We shared: juicy soup dumplings, chicken fried rice, Chinese vegetable with black fungus, steak cube with asparagus, & fried pork ribs. We each had 1 wine/beer. Bill was $154. Very affordable and generous portions - especially the Chinese veg with fungus (which was delicious)! The server brought us 1 incorrect item, which they replaced pleasantly and quickly. Hassle-free. We were having such a pleasant time I forgot to take pics. I highly recommend-especially if you like communal dining with family/friends. Great place for sharing! Will def come back.

Love coming here on a chilly day and getting their congee. Pictured here is their lobster congee, it’s absolutely delicious. Thick, creamy, and hot. Service is always welcoming, and the decor is amazing. I feel like I’m in the rain forest and it adds to the whole experience. Love this place!
