I had an extremely complex and high conflict custody battle, like over three years complex, hired multiple lawyers, it was frustrating and aggravating, i wish i retained this firm from the beginning, upon retaining this firm there was fast movement, and they delivered what they promised, the combo of Ms Steiner and Ms Howeth is quite the impressive team, knowledgeable, effective, honest, and reasonably priced. i would highly recommend them and this firm.

Often this usually means you are faced with a stressful life event, and I have so many wonderful things to say about Valerie and Sonia and the support they provided me through a difficult time. If I could give no stars I would. Valerie was great at answering my calls and helping with my situation as my daughter GAL in the beginning only as most lawyers do. Her job was to protect my daughter as her GAL. After speaking to my ex, she literally fell in the trap of believing a narcissist who has numerous amount of police records records of physically abusing me. My daughter was in complete distraught every time she was questioned by Val. It’s as if Val wanted my daughter to speak negatively. After some time, Val of course didn’t listen to anything I had to say and gave my ex parenting time. It has now been about a year and a half and he hasn’t fulfilled barely any of his parenting time. I tried to explain to her that this wasn’t going to work and I would be left with his parenting which I am more than happy to do. Anyways, I called her office several times but she wouldn’t call me back. In my opinion, I think she knew she messed up listening to the wrong parent which I warned her about. I am my daughters Mother and I knew what was best for her. Val seems very nice in the beginning but then changes. She didn’t make things better for my daughter, instead gave her father more parenting time which resulted in my daughter crying/upset every time he didn’t show up. I wonder how she sleeps at night. And to answer the response to my review: Val recommended a therapist for my daughter. Of course I got her one. Val was supposed to call and get to the bottom of the truth of how my daughter truly felt without being pressured by Val. She failed to do so and appeared in front of a judge without any information about what happened during weeks of therapy. This wasn’t a matter of choosing sides of either parent but what is best for my child.

I understand that this process can be incredibly challenging. My role as a guardian ad litem (GAL) is to investigate the facts and make recommendations based on what’s best for the child.

Often, a GAL is appointed when parents disagree with the facts. Not surprisingly, parents can feel frustrated when they don’t agree with their particular perspective. But a GAL is not an advocate for either parent. Ultimately, how a GAL’s recommendations are used is up to the court.

I am committed to administering my role on behalf of the children consistent with their best interests and the law, even if it means one or both parents disagree or are unhappy.

I entered a scary chapter of my life leaving a very dangerous and stressful martial situation and their advice was on point and they truly cared about me as a person and I never felt like just "another case". They took time to listen to the entire situation and fully understand it before offering advice, their billing practices are very modest for the amount of work they put in and when I had emergency orders that arose they were available after hours and weekends to get it done.
