I recently got a job at a global information technology firm and I couldn't have done it without the help of City CV and Tim (my assigned coach).
Eleanor was my first interaction with the company and right from the start she made me feel comfortable and understood. She then advised me on what services might be best suited to me and gave me time to think about it all, which I really appreciated.
I was then matched with Tim who ensured my CV, Cover Letter and LinkedIn profile were marketed towards the industry I was targeting and the results were quick. I was getting invited to interviews and to complete online assessments, and eventually was also contacted on LinkedIn by the recruiter that gave me the chance to get the job that I now have.
To put things into context before working with Tim and City CV I would often get straight rejections and I was certainly not being contacted by recruiters from global firms. So it is safe to say that City CV boosted my employability.
When it came to interviewing I also didn’t have much success in the past and would even say it was my weakness. However, with Tim’s support I managed to get through three rounds of interviews and receive an offer from the first firm that gave me a chance (I especially found the mock interview and feedback session to be key in my success in getting through the interviews). After two unsuccessful attempts at securing a training contract at my firm, I contacted City CV for interview coaching. Across 3 sessions, Nick helped me prepare and practice brilliant structures to answer all of the standard interview questions, as well as strategies for dealing with a number of tricky questions.

I selected CityCV because I was impressed with how they professionally handled my initial enquiries and their prompt polite call backs. Their whole process is very thorough and personal, which enables their CV writer to best represent who you are and highlight things you may have discounted or even forgotten. Part of the process involves completing a pre-consultation form which really makes you think about what you have achieved in your career and tells CityCV who you are; it proved invaluable. The actual consultation was as tough as any interview I have had, but again revealed much value that I had long forgotten and by then you feel CityCV know you well, which is reassuring. I used this service to get my CV revamped - what a waste of money. It was outsourced to someone called Nadine. Nadine called me for a one hour information gathering session which she went ok, but the results were pretty rubbish. I raised the alarm on this, and Victoria stepped in and sent a “revised” version which wasn’t much of an improvement. All in all, a waste of time and money. Wouldn’t use service or recommend.

Several years ago I paid good money to have my resume done. The finished "product" was complete hogwash. Spelling errors galore. I sent it back to them demanding a redo. The head of this band of bamboozlers personally assured me that she would put her best people on it and give it her personal attention. As if to mock my request she sent it back looking like the same rubbish that was tossed my way on the first round. I had left a critical review not long after my dealings with this gang of beguilers but it mysteriously vanished. So here it is again. As a recent graduate thrown into applying for both graduate schemes and jobs, I found it very difficult to know what a potential employer would be looking for in a candidate.
I booked onto one of the cityCV interview packages and not only did they help me to understand my own strengths, but really gave me the confidence I needed in my own abilities and in interview. Nick's coaching really helped me be able present myself well in interview, and to understand how best to answer any type of question thrown at you with the added bonus of having knowledge a variety of different city companies. This was endlessly more helpful than the careers service at my university as they really support you through the process.
