Dropped my iPhone X in the toilet bowl (fortunately, flushed) and was very concerned because it contained important photos, videos and memories that I hadn't back up. Took it to a usual phone repairer and they said the motherboard and screen need to be changed but could not guarantee data recovery. So I consulted with A.I. and Googled a few data recovery specialists in Singapore instead and decided to take it to CBL (despite them being a bit slower in response compared to other shops) since they claimed to recover the whole backup file as-is and do not charge unless data is recovered. Very pleased and relieved to say that my photos, videos and most importantly WeChat messages and audio notes are restored onto my new iPhone 15 Pro.
Initially, I hesitated between doing the standard repair procedures vs. sending it to a data recovery specialist as the latter seems pricier. I am very glad I decided that the emotional weight of the data makes the monetary cost pale in comparison in the end. If your data is very important to you, it's probably a good idea to send it to a specialist like CBL and as suggested by Claude, "Remember, any manipulation of the device carries some risk. Given the sentimental value of your data, it's generally safer to prioritize specialized data recovery methods over standard repair procedures."
