Our recent experience with Castorenas was anything but positive. We contracted with them for new kitchen countertops. Castorenas fabricated and installed the countertops, however, they were different from the sample that we had chosen. The countertop supplier later acknowledged that the sample that was used for the countertop selection represented material that is no longer available and they instead provided countertop material that was the closest match to what we had selected. We advised Castorenas that the “substitute” countertops were not acceptable. As a result, the countertop supplier cancelled the invoice for the material they provided. However, Castorenas said that we were still responsible for the fabrication and installation costs for the countertops even though the material was markedly different from what we had chosen. We subsequently selected replacement countertop material that was considerably higher priced than the material we originally chose. We ended up hiring our own contractor to remove the incorrect countertops and had Castorenas fabricate and install the new countertop material that we had chosen. All of this caused us to be without a useable kitchen for just over three months. Consequently, we ultimately agreed to pay Castorenas a large portion of the fabrication and installation costs for the incorrect countertops just to facilitate the installation of the new countertops so we would have a useable kitchen again. We are pleased with our new countertops but we will absolutely not work with Castorenas again. The company’s refusal to accept responsibility for their mistake is unacceptable.
