Our host Endria was so welcoming and made us feel right at home! Wonderful meal with fantastic staff! Highly recommend the Seafood platter, it was phenomenal both in portion size and in flavour! Wonderfully prepared Hake and Prawns. Thanks to our server Valerie and host Endria for a lovely evening. Highly recommend Cafe 1904 when visiting Hermanus.

That's too bad I can't put 6 stars on the food. I just had one of the best ribeye I've ever eaten in my life. Perfectly cooked blue with a delicious sauce. The meat was really tender, melt in the mouth for a very reasonable price. I don't know if I'll have the time to go back but if I do, I already know what my order will be.

Never again will we eat at 1904! The venue was so smelly and decor old and too much on tables. The food was terrible! My Hake was soft like porridge and the chips was hard. I did not eat my food. The calamari tasted like chips. My husband’s food was also so tasteless. You do not know what you are eating? Why did this restaurant ever get an award? The windows are next to a very busy road. And all the doors are open on a cold night. On the street and on all sides.

Shout out for Vigilance our waitress, fabulous job. The restaurant is unique in every sense and is pretty much fine dining but in a completely relaxing atmosphere. Comprehensive menu. Was not disappointed, great meals and service. The Thai Kingklip signature dish is so good. If you are in Hermanus go here.

Great seafood experience We wanted a special seafood experience and this is what we got. The atmosphere is gorgeous, the food obviously cooked with care and passion, and the owner and her wait staff so friendly and caring. If we come back to Hermanus we will be back!

Our first visit to this amazing restaurant. Been many times to Hermanus but seemed to have missed this gem. We live in Franschhoek ( to those that dont know Franschhoek is considered to be the gourmet "capital" of the western cape)8 and the quality of the food at 1904 is well equal to the amazing dishes available there. The staff, the ambiance, the food and wines all just wonderful. Thank you we will definately be back soon.

This place could be nice but the decoration of this wonderful old Victorian house is horrible . Special the stoep /verandah is a nightmare with all these dusty rocks at the wall. The chairs are very uncomfortable and lots of dishes are totally overpriced comparing with all other restaurants in town. R 440 for prawns XL from the westcoast ( of which country?) would normally just charged for LM prawns from Mozambique. Same with the Fillet. Comparing to places down the road it’s way too expensive. Service was okay. The friendly owner can’t compensate all these.

It is always so sad then people write reviews without real knowledge of what they are writing about , Cafe 1904 Restaurant is situated in a old historical house that is part of the old fisharmans village it was a residential house not a Victorian house ( deffenion of a Victorian house is big staircase, big fireplace, big separate rooms ) in connection with the prawns as it stipulated on the menu ... Portuguese prawns not XL but L1 their is a big difference between the two , regarding the hanging rocks that is no real rock but cement that is dipped in white wash to give it a old look and is dusted every day as is the rest of the restaurant cleaned thoroughly every day .
