I joined an in person session and found it to be quite cliquey. Robert didn’t welcome myself or the other first timers.

Dear "George Reviews", I'm sorry you felt the class didn't meet your expectations, but as this is the first and only review of its kind in 13 years, I feel I need to give you a full explanation.
I don’t pounce on newcomers the moment they arrive because many people who initially attend my training are anxious and uncertain about meditation and wouldn’t want attention drawn to them in a room full of strangers.
Many of our regulars, when they first attended, would quietly slip in and out of the classes until they felt comfortable enough to come along for our after-class coffee (to which I always invite all newcomers), attend a course, workshop or retreat. Many of these initially anxious people have become the core of our community, which brings me to your other comment that you thought we appeared “cliquey” based on people greeting each other warmly at the start of a class.
Many of us have been meditating together for over a decade, and a deeply connected and active community has formed, as you will see from many of the other reviews. I do understand that if you're coming from a certain place, seeing other people's easy and relaxed connections might make you feel uncomfortable.
If you had chosen to come along to our after-class coffee (to which I always invite all newcomers), you would have learned that you could not find a more friendly, welcoming and inclusive group. As I have been told many, many times over the years.
Robert.
P.S. I can’t help noticing that you use the name “George Reviews” instead of your real name. That you have added 237 reviews, 109 photos, 603 answers, and 1,500 responses on Google. And all from an anonymous and hidden profile!
