While the marks shown appear to be water spots from the drying/polishing process rather than an issue of cleanliness, we completely understand that appearance matters just as much as sanitation when enjoying a dining experience. The odor was caused by an unexpected municipal/city sewer issue outside of our control, and in the days leading up to the event we were actively working with the proper authorities and doing everything possible to resolve it.

On the day of the wedding, our team continued taking every available step to minimize the impact for guests while also trying to avoid the heartbreaking alternative of canceling the celebration altogether. We understand how frustrating and disappointing this must have been, and we sincerely regret that it affected your time at our venue.

We’d also like to clarify that the floor issue was not due to a leak. Our team was using our regular cleaning equipment to clean water that had been spilled during floral setup while centerpieces were being prepared.

We do sincerely apologize that one restroom stall was missing toilet paper during cocktail hour. That should have been caught and corrected more quickly. We appreciate you bringing it to our attention, as feedback helps us continue improving the guest experience.

We sincerely apologize for the sewer odor issue that occurred during your event. This was the result of an unexpected municipal sewer problem outside of our property and beyond our direct control. In the days leading up to the wedding, our team worked extensively with the appropriate city services and vendors to do everything possible to resolve and minimize the impact.

We understand how frustrating and disappointing that situation was, especially on such an important day. Unfortunately, the only alternative at that point would have been canceling the wedding entirely, which we knew would have been devastating for the couple and their families. Our goal was to keep the celebration moving forward while addressing the issue as best we could.

We would also like to clarify that Black Iris Estate is a venue owned and operated by a full-service catering company, which is why catering services are provided in-house as part of our business model. Wedding cakes are absolutely welcome from licensed outside bakery partners, as are other approved specialty items that meet health and safety guidelines. We always aim to be transparent about these policies during the planning process so couples understand their options in advance.

We truly regret that this unforeseen city issue affected your experience and appreciate you sharing both the positives and concerns.

Our team works hard to keep events running on schedule and follows the timeline approved with each couple. When timelines shift during the day due to changes, delays, or decisions made during the event, later portions of the celebration such as the reception and dinner can also be affected. Even in those situations, our staff works diligently to adjust and serve everyone as smoothly as possible.

We also do not provide the DJ or sound system, as entertainment vendors are independently selected and contracted by the client.
