I've been training Jiu-Jitsu at BJJ Lab Zürich for the past 2 years and I couldn't be happier.
They have modern facilities and a spacious mat area with large windows on two sides for plenty of natural light. Hygiene is a top priority, with mats being cleaned thoroughly after each training.
The instructors are very experienced and extremely knowledgeable yet humble and approachable at the same time. They are always happy to answer questions or help fix problems.
BJJ Lab's Fundamentals class has a clear and well structured 16-weeks curriculum. It's always known in advance what techniques are being taught on any given day. Better yet, they have a video library with short video clips of all the techniques that they teach. This makes it easy to familiarize oneself with each technique before coming to class or review them after class. I also use this library all the time to analyze and refine my rolling techniques.
As stable as the curriculum is, they fix and tweak the details frequently. Because the instructors and many members actively compete, they see first hand which techniques work well and which don't and they try to incorporate these practical insights into the training program.
If you want to drill with a training partner outside class or at odd hours they are very supportive and do their best to enable this.
Lastly, there are no weird and restrictive rules that some other gyms make you obey: White belts can ask higher belts for a roll, no problem. You can cross train at other gyms. You can bring your own gi of any color (or buy theirs at very fair prices). And they are very welcoming to visitors.
I wholeheartedly recommend BJJ Lab!

BJJ LAB is the best place I have trained so far. It follows a curriculum that suits every level. The coaches have a very profound knowledge of the techniques they teach and are very helpful if you get stuck within a technique. Just drop in!

Thank you Matthias!
This is a really great school! I dropped by the no gi noon class during a trip to Zurich. The vibe was really good, and everyone was welcoming. Patrick was the instructor. He was really technical and friendly. I really enjoyed my time here!
