We worked with Better Built Builders (BBB) on a major home renovation—a full remodel and a two-story extension that added about 400 square feet to our home. The project spanned about a year, and as anyone who's gone through something like this knows, it was long, exhausting, and at times incredibly difficult to live through. That said, BBB made a real effort to accommodate us living on-site during the renovation, which I know wasn’t easy for them. We truly appreciated their willingness to work around our needs and minimize disruption where possible.
Like any big project, there were a few bumps along the way. At times, communication could have been clearer, though I’ll admit part of that was on me for not seeking clarification upfront. There were also a few surprises along the way that added cost and complexity. But to their credit, after the first incident that added cost, BBB made a noticeable effort to be much more proactive and transparent about any potential cost adders. I appreciated that they learned from it and made sure we weren’t caught off guard again.
Importantly, BBB stuck to their original quote for the agreed-upon scope. They didn’t nickel-and-dime us for small things, and any major scope changes were always discussed and agreed upon beforehand. At the end of the day, they did everything they committed to—and we now have a beautiful home that we absolutely love.
They’ve also already stood by their warranty a couple of times, which gives me confidence that if anything comes up in the future, they’ll be there to take care of it. Their four-year warranty is a nice bonus too—longer than most contractors offer.
All in all, it was a tough journey, but we’re very happy we chose BBB. They were reliable, respectful, and delivered on their promises—and we’re grateful for the home they helped us create.

BetterBuilt Builders built an ADU in my house in Bay area. The project was challenging because we were one of the first ADU approved by our city (perhaps the first) under the California ADU law. On top of that it happened during the COVID 19 pandemic.
We experienced it all: non-sensical requirements from the city and utilities companies, lumber shortage, labor shortage. Furthermore, I relocated during the pandemic and the project was fully managed by BetterBuilt amazing Project Manager, Jose. He continuously updated us on progress through chat and videoconference.
Also, we received lots of hand-holding. BetterBuilt builders helped us chose materials and find workers for additional items (e.g. install AC unit). It was really a turn-key experience.
I have done other constructions projects in the past and this is the first time that I did not have to be fully involved and still get the project done right and without cost overrun. I'll work with BetterBuilt Builders again in the future I truly recommend it.
