Had been interested in picking up a martial art for a while when I ran into Aikido of Charlotte. I chose the perfect place to begin my Aikido journey! Weiner Sensei and all other instructors are great teachers. Dojo members are all incredibly friendly and made me feel at home right away.

I've trained Aikido since 1995 and have visited dojos all around the world. Aikido of Charlotte is absolutely world class in leadership, instruction, and facilities. The atmosphere is one of encouragement and sincerity where everyone is dedicated to the art and are most kind to one another. I consider myself lucky to have found a new home dojo.

Aikido of Charlotte is fantastic! Weiner Sensei, all other instructors, and fellow students are incredibly friendly and supportive. Classes are engaging and are adapted for every skill level. It’s the ideal place for anyone looking to learn Aikido in a welcoming environment.

Great dojo (place) to train. Sensei Weiner is an excellent teacher and the students are a great group of people. I moved here a few years ago to Huntersville and I am glad that I am at AOC!!

I just recently moved here and was looking for a dojo to practice in and found Aikido of Charlotte and although my Aikido journey has been with a different organization they welcomed me in. Honoring the rank that I had already achieved Sensei is an excellent and patient teacher, the rest of the members of the dojo are warm welcoming and helpful and it is a very efficiently run dojo.

Having an interest in learning a martial art I did not want one where there is joy in pulverizing one another. I attended the Aikido of Charlotte Kagami Biraki (New Year) on January 7th, 2023. Upon arriving I was greeted and made to feel welcome. I observed the full events of the day starting with 1,000 cuts to individuals testing for their next rank. The support and overall respect each member has for one another to succeed in their practice and self-improvement was clear and one of many reasons why the decision was clear to start my own journey the very next day with my first class as a student.

This dojo is like a family. I fit right in with the people after my initial review and I can’t say enough good things about the Sensei. Everyone is patient with you and helps you learn the basics without judgement. I recommend Aikido of Charlotte to everyone.

Great instructors. Great atmosphere. Great Dojo. Everyone friendly. Instructors are really good at teaching and eager to make sure you get what they are teaching. Highly recommend this Dojo!!!!

Great place for self-defense class for all ages for women and even men.

I have been interested in Aikido for many years, but didn't make the time for regular practice until recently. After finding Aikido of Charlotte online, I scheduled a visit to observe a class and immediately decided to join. The facility is spacious, beautiful, and well-maintained. The quality of instruction is excellent and there are many opportunities to train with advanced practitioners. The atmosphere is welcoming, and the focus on safety and etiquette as well as philosophical underpinnings of the art provide a very holistic experience. I am grateful to have found the dojo and expect to train here for many years to come.

Aikido of Charlotte is a top-notch, one of a kind dojo. The level of dedication Weiner Sensei and his students exhibit is truly unique and ideal for the committed and serious student. The senior students provide exceptional support and guidance to the junior students, including those who are just beginning and without any Aikido or marital arts experience.

Aikido of Charlotte isn't just a martial arts studio, but a family. Everyone from the instructors to the newest novice are welcoming, immensely patient, and dedicated to each other's growth and personal improvement. I feel privileged to be a part of this group.

Good level of aikido teaching in line with USAF curriculum.

I, along with my two daughters, participated in the community self-defense class. I found the class to be very informative, and would highly recommend. The facility is a clean and spacious place. The lead instructor, Jonathan, provided a wealth of information and kept the class flowing with practicing techniques and speaking on situational awareness. His students, who assisted the class, were very kind and patient in working with us. Aikido of Charlotte is a very respectful and welcoming environment.

I took a self defense class with 10 of my friends and I highly recommend! We had such a fun time, but also learned a lot too. It was empowering to discuss and practice tools of defense and ways we as women can be more aware of our surroundings and how to act in a threatening situation if needed. It’s definitely a class to take multiple times to learn more each time and to be confident in implementing skills we learned. Good instructors, good teaching, good times! Thanks Aikido!

I am not typically the audience for a self defense class. I'm 61, 6"2", Crossfit 5 times a week and I'm a pretty strong guy. In some situations that may not mean much. Getting in a street fight with someone who may not have as much to live for as I do or is high out of their mind is not very appealing to me. Strength does not always win a fight. Jonathan and team do a great job of teaching how to avoid getting into violent and physically harmful situations as well as how to quickly get out of them, avoid harm and get help. I would recommend this class certainly to women of all ages, who unfortunately are at higher risk than someone like me, but also to anyone who wants to protect themselves. This is literally live saving information and training. It is an eyeopening experience!

I've been practicing Aikido on/off for a few years and have had the chance to visit several dojos across multiple states. AOC is has one of the nicest dojos filled with great people in the area. If the theory of Aikido resonates with you, this is a great place to practice and improve your skills
