A1 is a great company to work with. I started the process back in July and just had my flooring installed. Chris was very helpful and patient. I went back and forth on floor type and baseboards. The installation was very smooth.. Robert and his crew did a great job. I will definitely use A1 Floors again.
I looked at so many positive reviews for A1 Floors and proceeded to hire them to replace carpet with hardwood in our living room, without even checking with competition. The consulting/sales guy was charming, prompt and gave full details of the work. He brought samples of the wood which made the decision quicker. We received the material in a week. The installation crew came a week later. They seemed to be in a rush to complete the task in one day which probably takes a little longer otherwise. Within days, I saw the planks are uneven at lots of places. Some of them are chipped off at the edges and it's squeaky when you walk.
When I mentioned this to them, they promptly sent another expert to inspect. This guy seemed reluctant to admit to faults but later agreed to mention them in his notes. I showed him the hardwood floor in the next room which was 20 years old and still in much better condition than the new installation. He did not like that and left but not before ranting on how the prices of everything have gone up these days but not the quality. He expressed his anguish over lack of passion and pride in the work by today's generation of artisans. So, there ended the matter.
I wish they had removed the material from the boxes to acclimatize for a couple of days, as many websites suggested. Or took an extra day to install properly even if it meant additional $. Five stars for customer service, communication and promptness and three stars for the quality of installation!

We recently had A1 replace all of the flooring in our downstairs and they did a great job. The gentleman that came to our home for an estimate was very helpful in picking out the right flooring for us and the price was reasonable for the flooring and amount of work. The installation was scheduled for about a week later and the guys that did the work were very professional and hard-working. They were careful moving our furniture and appliances and got it done quickly. I would definitely use them in the future and recommend them to anyone else.

Not A1 in my book. 0 stars would be a better review. Can’t even install Pergo properly & they won’t correct the terrible installation job. We now have 3 floor heights on one level of the house because they didn’t use underpayment, transitions between floor heights have already popped up & nails are sticking up all over the place. Thresholds into bedrooms were nailed & glued to bedroom carpet but they popped up & we’re tripping on these too. This happened one day after installation & “A1” said they won’t do anything about it. 3 unprofessional goofs came to “inspect” the shoddy work 2 days after installation. They admitted the job was done incorrectly yet offered no assistance to fix it. They tried to get me to sign a contract drawn on notebook paper saying I was satisfied with the job.
Photo proof of the incompetence. Can’t believe the business owner responded as if they completed a job well done. Yes, I refused to let them in my house to repair the mistakes with a giant tube of brown caulking. I just read the owners pitiful response that laid blame anywhere but on his “business”. It was 6 years ago but a shoddy job none the less.
Mr Wallace with all due respect sir you are out of line. We at A1 Floors were never hired by you, nor have we ever done any work for you. You sir were the purchaser of the home of our only customer, the seller, Mr. and Mrs. B.
Our customer hired A1 Floors to install Laminate Floors in part of their home. We were hired to do the labor only as our customer was going to purchase the products required for the job. We at A1 Floors did as hired to the specifications and satisfaction of our customer Mr. and Mrs. B.
First time we ever heard of you was the Thursday before Memorial Day. We were called by our customer that the Buyers of their home (This is Mr. and Mrs. Wallace) had done a pre-close inspection, and would we be willing to take care of some modifications of our job. As we strive to achieve complete customer satisfaction with all our customers, we met with our customer that very day.
It seems that there was some sort of flooring arrangement negotiated between buyer and seller prior to closing. It also was very evident at that meeting with our customer Mr. and Mrs. B., the sellers, that although there was an agreement, the perceptions of that agreement between both parties was very different.
The biggest issue you seemed to have was the as you stated 3 levels of flooring. You are quite aware that one of those levels was a sunken living room. The one level that has about a 1/4" difference, is the area from the entry to the hall. The reason for that height difference is that the entry had ceramic tiles and the hall had carpet. We were hired to remove the carpet, but that the ceramic tile WOULD REMAIN and laminate installed over the tile. This did cause there to be that small difference in height. To remove the ceramic and the additional floor prep work was not an expense our customer chose to undertake. THIS does not mean the job was done wrong. What I came to understand is that you had expectations of there being no difference in the height where those rooms met. This certainly could have been accomplished as indicated, by removal of tile prior to installation of the laminate. This however is NOT what our customer hired us to do.
Obviously you had a different perception of your pre close agreement with the seller then they did.
It was agreed between seller, buyer, realtors, and A1 Floors, that we at A1 floors would make 3 modifications to our job at no expense to any party. This did NOT include anything regarding this floor height difference. It seemed common sense prevailed.
You and your wife Mr. Wallace closed on the house the Friday before Memorial Day and signed off on the agreement that was set up that A1 Floors would take care of 3 modifications on Tuesday May 29th.
On May 29th, as scheduled, The original sales rep, and the install team arrived to complete what was expected of us. They were not goons or goofs sir, they were professional and prepared to address the issues at hand. You Sir greeted them at the door with a very poor attitude. You were vulgar and combative. You demanded that they needed to take the floor up, remove the tile, level the floor, and reinstall the laminate. You instructed them using cuss words that if they weren't there to do that then to get out of your home and off your property.
You have been confrontational, rude, vulgar, demanding, etc. Your intent is to cause us damage.
We at A1 Floors are committed to doing all we can to make our customers satisfied. Our goal is to Exceed Expectations from Consultation to Installation.
If you can be respectful Mr Wallace, call me to schedule the modifications that were agreed to.
