Dear All,
I am writing to express my extreme dissatisfaction with the services provided by Mr. Tan's company for my house renovation.
We hired Mr. Tan's company with the assurance that his extensive experience in the market would ensure a smooth and timely renovation.
We explicitly informed your team that the house needed to be completed within six weeks from the day we received the keys.
Unfortunately, despite your promises, the project was delayed, and the process became deeply frustrating.
This is the first time I have encountered a renovation company where homeowners had to supervise the project so closely just to ensure tasks
were completed correctly and on time. Communication has been a significant issue—messages were often left unanswered, and we had to follow up
on the same questions repeatedly. Purchased items at the site were left unpacked and exposed, while instruction manuals were removed, misplaced,
or outright denied to have been touched.
Whenever we try to discuss or suggest ideas, Mr. Tan often dismissed them as “stupid” and insisted that only his way was correct.
His attitude made it challenging for us, as homeowners, to have any say in the layout or design of our own home. Moreover,
he raised his voice whenever we expressed our preferences, leaving us feeling disrespected and ignored.
Balancing renovation issues, work-related stress, and adhering to our auspicious housewarming date proved to be an overwhelming ordeal.
Job Scope Provided to Contractor:
- Renovation of both toilets
- Renovation of the kitchen
- Construction of a partition wall
Summary of Issues Faced:
Wrong tiles were ordered and delivered.
- Workers were unclear about their job scope and measurements.
- Mr. Tan failed to brief workers or assign tasks properly.
Mr Tan, multiple times, raised his voice and shouted to us in front of our kids.
Despite clear instructions to prioritize the kitchen, work began on the toilets first.
- Multiple broken promises and constant demands for payment, yet completion was repeatedly delayed.
On our feng shui housewarming date, critical tasks such as the kitchen quartz countertop, the master bathroom, and other pending rectifications remained incomplete.
- Communication issues extended beyond on-site workers to management, requiring us to make multiple calls for updates.
The kitchen was measured 3–4 times, yet issues persisted with the cooker hood placement and layout. Mr. Tan ignored our concerns, forcing us to liaise directly with workers on-site.
Bathroom accessories we provided were not installed correctly, despite prior assurances.
Wall tiles had visible gaps, holes, and hollow areas. Work was done without removing the window grills, further compromising quality.
Post-housewarming rectifications were ignored, with no follow-up from your team.
The newly installed water heater was improperly set up, causing a short circuit and damage to the PCB on the distribution board. Despite reporting this, no action was taken, and excuses delayed resolution. We had to hire our own electrician to resolve the issue at our own expense.
The toilet manhole was left blocked with cement debris, causing drainage blockages. We had to manually clear this ourselves as the issue was also ignored.
Due to these numerous problems, my husband had to take on the role of a foreman, overseeing every detail of the project. What was supposed to be a hassle-free renovation experience turned into an exhausting and stressful ordeal for my family.
Even after all these unresolved issues and substandard work, your company has the audacity to demand the remaining $1,000 payment. All payments before this were paid in cash. We did not take up the instalment plan. This is entirely unjustified, given the poor quality of work delivered and the unresolved concerns.
I strongly recommend others to think twice before engaging your services.
