Eastcote Surgery
I had previously tried to have a smear test at the Welbeck Road practice and unfortunately, the nurse there 'couldn't find my cervix'. After much prodding, probing, coughing, changing leg position and placing my hands beneath my lower back, my cervix was nowhere to be seen. I left the practice in tears and a new appointment arranged for a couple of weeks later at the Eastcote surgery.
As you can imagine, I was not looking forward to the appointment. However, after explaining my concerns and anxieties following the first appointment, Nurse Mairead reassured me that she would take her time and more importantly, was confident that she would and could 'find my cervix'.
I can happily say, after asking me to sit at the end of the bed, and lie back, (I've never been told to get into this postion) Nurse Mairead surely did find my cervix, and at her first attempt!!!! I left the practice without a tear in my eyes and all my anxiety had disappeared. If smear tests were conducted in this way, I'm sure I would not delay going to the doctors for regular smear tests.
