Clear Warning about this rental company! Clear warning about this rental company! We booked a car with SR Rent a Car in Sri Lanka for 15 nights. Before arrival, we received a confirmation and a voucher stating that we only needed our passport, international driving permit, and credit card. We had all of these documents with us. Only at pickup were we suddenly told that we also needed a special Sri Lankan local permit in order to drive the car ourselves. This crucial requirement was never communicated to us in advance. Because it was Friday afternoon, we were told the permit could not be arranged before the weekend. The only “solution” offered was to pay extra for a driver. Since we had already planned a full round trip with hotels booked, we had no real choice. What should have cost around €400 ended up costing us over €800. Even more questionable: later we found out that the driver apparently used his private vehicle. For us, this was deeply misleading and highly unprofessional. We feel seriously misled and strongly advise others not to book here!
