During the time we worked together, István was not only my manager, but also an important mentor for me. I was his mentee over a longer period, and we had many regular conversations about work-related situations, professional challenges, personal conflicts, and my own development.
What I valued most was that he never approached these conversations in a generic or superficial way. He really listened, tried to understand the situation, and helped me look at problems from different angles. In the beginning, he often shared how he would handle similar situations, based on his own experience. Later, he increasingly helped me find my own answers by asking the right questions and guiding my thinking instead of simply giving direct advice.
We discussed many topics, including workplace conflicts, communication issues, personal growth, and how I could improve my soft skills to become more effective in my role. He also shared many of his own stories and experiences, which made the mentoring very practical and easy to relate to.
These conversations helped me become more self-aware, more confident, and better at handling difficult situations. I improved in how I communicate, how I approach conflicts, and how I think about my own professional development. I always felt supported, respected, and taken seriously during our discussions.
