Canceled Course and Unresolved Airfare Expenses
I registered for a Manuela Shala professional training advertised for August 10–11, 2026, in São Paulo, Brazil. The website showed specific dates, the city, a detailed two-day schedule, available tickets, and an active registration and deposit-payment process.
Before purchasing airfare, I contacted the organization several times by email, WhatsApp, Instagram, and telephone because I needed confirmation about the course language and exact location. Most of my messages and calls were not answered.
After I purchased airfare specifically for the training, the course did not proceed as advertised. I was later told that participants were supposed to wait for official confirmation before booking flights. However, I reviewed and documented the course page, checkout process, and published terms, and I could not find that warning.
My course deposit was eventually refunded, which I appreciate. However, the organization initially offered only a $400 credit toward another course for my airline-ticket loss. Their assistant later told me that the airline issue was being reviewed, but despite multiple follow-ups, I have not received a final response.
I am sharing my documented experience so that other international students know to obtain all course details and written confirmation before purchasing airfare or accommodations.
