Terrible Customer Service
This is probably the worst customer service experience I have ever had. I refuse to ever order from them again.
I received a Christmas gift from my father. I didn't like the item and wanted to return it to the company for a North Style credit. I also didn't want my father to know that I was returning the item. I have done this successfully with many other companies but there was no procedure in place to do this with North Style.
First, when you call the customer service line, you are calling a center with people reading from scripts. They have no script for this issue so you have to ask to be transferred to a US representative of which there must only be a few because I kept speaking with the same woman. (Of course, I had to go through this whole process multiple times and keep re-explaining the process until I could get the US rep. There was no direct line to the US rep.)
Apparently, the only way to do a return or exchange with this company is for them to refund the person who purchased the item (my father.). So, I would then have to ask him to buy me another item since he was the one being refunded.
To get around this, the US rep said that I had to write a letter explaining that I did not want the original order refunded. Instead, I wanted a store credit sent to my address. I told her that I was concerned the return would just be quickly scanned and no one would actually read the letter. She said that the letter would indeed be read. So, I wrote a whole letter explaining the situation and sent it back with the item. Of course, they just scanned it and refunded my father. I called to ask what happened and this same rep (after having to go through the main call center again) said that the person who did it must have been new and not known to read the letter. I asked if they would give me a store credit since they had created this situation and they would not.
To compare, I just went through a similar thing with LL Bean and they resolved the whole situation within 3 minutes. The NorthStyle situation took weeks.
It's ridiculous that they don't have a protocol for gifts.
