A great alternative to publishing with Amazon
I thought about going directly through Amazon's self-publishing firm but decided against it when I discovered that many brick and mortar stores will not buy your book if you publish through Amazon directly. Apparently the way Amazon has treated bookstores throughout the years has forced bookstores to fight back and not work with Amazon directly. Whether you like it or not, it makes business sense for bookstores to fight back.
So I chose MindStir Media instead. They have a relationship with a huge distributor, Ingram, and because I work with MindStir Media my book is available through Ingram and thousands of bookstores. Not only do I appear more legitimate to booksellers and they won't turn me away at first glance, but having a legit distributor actually helps spur sales. See, booksellers want to work with a distributor, not Amazon.
I'm overall very satisfied with my experience with MindStir Media. I recommend that you choose MindStir Media if you want your book to be available to the widest audience possible.
