Terrible firm I am writing this review to share my complete experience with Sethi Law LLC so other people don’t go through what I went through. I hired Sethi Law for an extremely important and time-sensitive custody/jurisdiction case involving my child. I was very clear from the beginning that the situation required urgent filings, frequent communication, and accurate legal strategy. What I received instead was confusion, delay, misdirection, and an overall lack of execution. From the start, the firm provided me with strategies that were unrealistic and legally impossible for the court to accept. I only learned this after wasting time, energy, and money following the direction they gave me. At no point did I feel they had a full grasp of the procedural requirements, deadlines, or the urgency of what needed to be done. It became clear to me that they were inexperienced in this specific area of law, despite telling me they had “decades of experience.” The most concerning part was their inability to follow through on basic responsibilities: • No Notice of Appearance was ever filed in my New York case, even though I had paid and repeatedly asked for confirmation. • On my court date, I texted asking who would be there to represent me, and I was told no New York licensed attorney was available and that I should “try to get an adjournment.” I had to stand in court alone, unrepresented, in front of the judge. • The firm repeatedly promised filings “today,” “tonight,” or “in an hour,” yet nothing was filed, and no actual proof of progress was ever provided. • Communication was almost nonexistent. My messages and questions were routinely ignored or answered with vague responses like “we’re strategizing” or “it’s already done,” without ever sending anything to back that up. • I was also told that delays were caused by problems with their copy machine or other office issues which is inexcusable when dealing with urgent court filings involving a minor child. This experience caused enormous stress and confusion. The lack of urgency, lack of competence, and lack of basic communication put me in an incredibly vulnerable position during an already difficult legal battle. I hired this firm to help me navigate a serious situation, and instead I felt misled, unsupported, and left stranded at critical moments. In my opinion, a law firm that practices numerous different areas of law should not take on a highly specialized, complex family-jurisdiction matter unless they truly have the knowledge and ability to handle it. From my experience, the way this case was handled made it clear that they were not prepared for the complexities of my situation. This is my honest review. If you are considering hiring Sethi Law for a custody or jurisdiction matter, I strongly recommend that you ask very specific questions about their real experience, their ability to file on time, and whether an attorney licensed in your state will actually show up to court with you. My experience with this firm was extremely disappointing, and I hope that by sharing it, I can prevent someone else from going through the same thing. Rj and Lyan both practice the same habits. They’re liars and experience with wasting time. These two didn’t miss a beat operating directly the same. Over two months after signing the retainer and no filings were submitted to the court. Rj wasn’t even aware that he was representing me in NY. Not to mention I paid the retainer right inside his office as he gave me confirmation he received the payment. Lyan is a liar. She lied so much saying it’s done, it’s ready, it’s already finished. Sethi law has questionable reviews with last names like Seth. I believe the reviews are not what they seem to be. This firm is not a good firm. They ignored my case and ignored my calls, emails and text after being paid in full. Any attorney who doesn’t appear for their client is a terrible attorney.
