Happiness and professional mentoring
I first met István through work, when he became my manager and selected me for a professional role in his team. It was my first position in an enterprise corporate environment, so at the beginning I was a little uncertain about what to expect. Even during the selection process, István encouraged me to step outside my comfort zone, which already showed the kind of leader and mentor he was.
During the four years we worked together, I could always turn to him with questions, challenges, or for advice — both as my manager and as my mentor. As his mentee, I experienced his support as open, honest, and genuinely development-focused. He consistently encouraged me and others around him to take on new responsibilities, try new things, and grow beyond our usual limits.
István also led small-group mental happiness sessions at our workplace, where we regularly discussed topics such as personal happiness, workplace happiness, self-awareness, and development. In both these sessions and our personal conversations, he listened carefully, shared his own experiences and stories, and helped me reflect on my own decisions. At the beginning he often gave practical advice based on what he would do in similar situations, and over time he increasingly supported me through thoughtful questions, helping me find my own solutions.
I always felt safe, heard, and motivated in our conversations. His mentoring helped me gain more confidence, make better decisions, and develop both professionally and personally. I truly enjoyed working with István; he has been one of the best leaders and mentors I have had in my career so far. Although we now work at different companies, I still know that he is someone I could reach out to if I needed guidance.
I am grateful for the time we worked together, and I would highly recommend István to anyone looking for a thoughtful, supportive, and experienced mentor.
