Not as expected I went to see Dr. Satterfield for a second opinion regarding my eye closure issue after surgery. I had read many positive reviews, which is why I made the appointment, but my experience was very disappointing. Her exam felt superficial—she only used a flashlight and a camera, and asked me to squeeze my eyes tightly and raise my eyebrows. I actually had to tell her to check my dermatitis because my other oculoplastic surgeon had diagnosed it; she didn’t even think to examine it herself. She also didn’t check my cornea or ensure my eye health in any meaningful way. By contrast, the other oculoplastic surgeon I saw used all the proper equipment, including magnifying tools and eye drops, and performed a thorough, careful exam. Dr. Satterfield wanted me to come back in 4 weeks, but I will not be returning. I expected much more from someone with her reputation. On top of this, her staff provided misleading information. They told me—and another patient in the waiting area—that the $150 consultation fee could be applied toward any products or procedures. This is false and misleading, and I’m not sure if it’s a tactic they use to attract patients.
