Total Scammers -- Worst Car Rental Experience Ever It was a horrible experience. When I arrived at the pick-up counter, I was informed that the car was no longer available, because I arrived more than 2 hours after the planned pick-up time. While it was true that there was a delay on the flight, I certainly wasn't 2 hours late. Also, I communicated the flight number when I made my booking, so the rental agency could have known about the delay. But that was only the start. The person at the desk told me that she could "arrange" things if I took a new rental, with a full coverage insurance (I still don't understand why this was relevant). So here I was, forced to accept an insurance that costed me almost as much as the total rental, which I had already paid. On top of that, I had already purchased a full coverage insurance from Rental Cars (which was about five times cheaper). On to the next horror-scene. The person behind the counter informed that she could not accept my driver's license. I have a perfectly valid, Belgian driver's license, which is on paper. The Belgian authorities are in the process of gradually replacing these paper driver's licenses by smart card versions, but in the mean time, the paper versions are perfectly valid in the European Union UNTIL 2033. The person wouldn't budge however, so we had to register my wife as driver. This I consider as a major breach of contract, because I was not informed of this at the time of booking the car and if we would have known, we probably would have booked a different type of holiday, because my wife hates to drive. However, since this was not communicated we were forced to accept the situation, based on false statements made by the B-Rent staff. Finally, the car was not up to standards. It was supposed to be Volkswagen Polo or equivalent, but it was a Toyota Yaris, which I consider to be a level below. The car was dirty, and all four tires need inflating.
