Over quoted and never delivered
I paid this company a 10% deposit for plumbing work that never went ahead — and despite multiple follow-ups, I’ve received no response and no refund.
What’s concerning is that:
• I was never issued a receipt, confirmation, or formal work order for the deposit.
• No work was carried out.
• No materials were supplied.
• There is no evidence of any costs incurred that would justify retaining the deposit.
After seeking a second opinion, the same work was completed by another licensed plumber for less than 25% of the original quote, which raises serious concerns about the accuracy and legitimacy of the pricing provided.
To make matters worse, another plumber from this same company previously quoted $20,000 for what amounted to replacing basic fixtures (shower heads, taps, laundry fittings). That level of pricing is not just inflated — it calls into question whether consumers are being misled or taken advantage of.
Under the Australian Consumer Law (ACL):
• A business cannot retain payment for services that were never delivered.
• Deposits must be reasonable and reflect actual costs incurred.
• Failing to provide a refund in these circumstances may constitute unfair contract terms and misleading conduct.
I’ve attempted to resolve this directly and amicably, including formal written requests for a refund but have been ignored.
If this is not resolved immediately, my next steps will be:
• Lodging a formal complaint with NSW Fair Trading.
• Pursuing recovery through NCAT (NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal).
• Providing full documentation of this experience to support an investigation into business practices.
At this point, I cannot recommend this company. Proceed with caution — particularly around deposits, pricing, and documentation.
