10/10 A very memorable trip with awesome diving and people!
My husband and I had such a great experience with Dive Curacao and the GO WEST Diving team. From the very beginning, Bryan was incredibly helpful with helping with our booking (remotely), working out the budget, and making sure our trip included all the things we wanted to do. He was flexible, quick to respond to messages, and even called me to have a chat and make sure he knew exactly what I wanted. Bryan is just genuinely lovely to deal with (and a fellow Canadian!). He made the whole planning process feel easy and stress-free.
When we arrived in Curacao around 4pm, we were met at the airport by Deyanira, who drove us to the All West Apartments. I’d definitely recommend staying there-it’s literally a stone’s throw from the turtle beach and was a great place to stay. Deya was so friendly and pointed out a few restaurants for us to try. One of them was Janchie’s, which is a must try for the iguana stew! It might not sound appealing, but it was actually surprisingly delicious. Don’t be put off by the name!
There was a small hiccup when we first arrived. I hadn’t realized I was scheduled to dive the following morning, having only arrived on the island at around 4pm. I tried calling the office before they closed but couldn’t get through. It turned out I’d been calling the wrong number-the number in the welcome folder was incorrect. I mentioned this to both Bryan and Stefan so hopefully it gets corrected and doesn’t catch anyone else out.
The good thing was that Stefan were incredibly relaxed about it. They said I could just dive the following day and didn’t charge me for missing that day’s diving, which I really appreciated.
I dived with Quint and Charlie during our stay. They both had different styles of instructing, but I felt completely safe and relaxed with both of them. Their dive plans and instructions were clear, and they encouraged me to do my first dive without an instructor at Alice in Wonderland (a shore dive) with a buddy, which I was nervous to do at first, but was glad I did it! My navigation is not the best at times but I was lucky to dive with two buddies and the instructions to 'follow the rope' was very clear.
I made a couple of dive friends during the trip and we connected through our love of photography. I had a great time working on my macro and micro photography. The current was so minimal that it made getting some good shots much easier!
Everyone at GO WEST was genuinely friendly and helpful. Henri, Stefan, Patricia and Julie at reception were always lovely, and Michaela was always happy to help with weights or finding equipment, even though I didn’t actually dive with her. It is always nice to have female instructors around, in a male-dominated sport. The captains were great too; very knowledgeable and hands-on, helping with equipment and getting everyone back onto the boat.
Overall, I’d give the whole experience a 10/10. There are still loads of dive sites I want to explore, so I’ll definitely be coming back to Curacao and will be diving with Bryan and the GO WEST team again.
We also did a Wednesday snorkeling trip with them, which my husband and I really enjoyed. I’d definitely recommend that too!
Thank you to the whole team for making our trip such a great and memorable one. We’ll be back!

Monica,
Thank you so much for this amazing 5 Star Review — what a wonderful read. My whole team is going to smile at this one.
It was a real pleasure working with you and your husband from the planning stage onward. Those phone calls matter more than people realize; getting a feel for what someone actually wants out of a trip is how a good vacation becomes a memorable one. And yes, always nice to connect with a fellow Canadian on the island!
Thank you for the honest note about the phone number in the welcome folder. That one is on us, and I'm grateful you flagged it rather than letting it slide — it has been corrected so the next guest doesn't have the same moment of panic after a long travel day. I'm glad Stefan and the GO WEST team handled it the way they did.
Deya will be delighted you mentioned her, and steering you toward Janchie's for the iguana stew is exactly the kind of local tip we love our guests to come home with. All West is a special little spot — waking up that close to the turtles at Playa Piskado never gets old.
I'll pass your words along to Quint, Charlie, Henri, Stefan, Patricia, Julie, Michaela and the captains. Hearing that you felt safe enough to take that first buddy dive at Alice in Wonderland — that's a real milestone, and "follow the rope" is honestly some of the best navigation advice on the west side. Curaçao's calm conditions really do spoil underwater photographers, and it sounds like you made the most of it with your macro work.
You've barely scratched the surface here — the Mushroom Forest, the Superior Producer wreck, Watamula, and a day trip to Klein Curaçao are all still waiting for you. Whenever you're ready to start planning trip number two, just contact us and we'll build it around the sites and the photography you're chasing.
Thank you once again and please always dive safely! Until next time.
Sincerely,
Bryan Horne and the Dive Travel Curaçao Team!
