Misleading olive oil description; shocking customer service on email - avoid We purchased five bottles of olive oil "Altis Classic Olive Oil" from GreekMarket.co.uk on 10 June 2025, which were delivered on time on 16 June 2025. The product is marketed as premium and sold under a well-known Greek brand "Altis Classic Olive Oil". However, it turns out to be a blend of refined olive oils and virgin olive oil — a lower-grade mix that is not disclosed anywhere in the product description. Resellers are legally required to clearly state when an olive oil is composed of refined and virgin olive oils, as blends like these do not meet the consumers' expected quality standards. Despite this being a requirement and the product being marketed to UK consumers, there is no mention on the website — in English — that this is a lower-grade blend. The only image used on the product page is a low-resolution label in Greek, which offers no clarity to the average UK shopper. As a result, the description is misleading, using terms like “pure” and “natural” which could easily lead a reasonable UK consumer to believe they are purchasing a high-quality, unrefined product, when in fact it contains refined oils. We raised this with the seller in good faith to help prevent further customer confusion or detriment. However, the response was disappointing: • Initially, our concerns were dismissed, • Then followed by a series of legal rebuttals, • Ultimately ending with a statement that the “matter is now closed” and a warning (!) not to contact them again, as doing so “abuses customer service channels.” Absolutely appalling customer service on email, no apology, no acknowledgment of the inadequate description, and no willingness to update the listing to reflect the product’s true composition for English-speaking consumers. The seller has offered to return the product at our own cost (not very practical, and expensive) and continues to refuse to edit the product description, as they legally should. This was a poor customer experience, and a troubling lack of transparency from a UK-based seller. Avoid.
