Our Experience with Dallas Door Designs and now Your New Door.com My wife and I built a custom home on Richland Chambers Lake and moved in September of 2023. We purchased a metal pivot door from Dallas Door Designs (now YourNewDoor.com) for $5,000. We love the look of the door, but unfortunately, we wouldn’t buy one again. During construction, another contractor accidentally scratched the door, and we paid for it to be repainted. The first repaint was uneven and splotchy, but after we expressed our dissatisfaction, the same crew came back and did a much better job. That cost was on us, since the damage wasn’t their responsibility, and we were satisfied with the result at the time. Since then, the paint has started to peel and rust. The door pivots also failed, though they were replaced under warranty, and the door now operates as designed. When the pivot repair was done, the crew damaged our trim, which cost $200 to fix—DDD did credit that amount back, which we felt was fair. However, over time, we’ve spent more than $1,000 on repairs and repainting just to keep this door looking and working properly. When we contacted YourNewDoor.com for help, they explained that they only purchased the assets of DDD and weren’t responsible for previous work, even though their website says they would honor DDD’s warranties. The paint warranty is only one year, and repainting does not restart that warranty period. We still like the style of the door, but between the ongoing maintenance issues, rust, and warranty limitations, we wouldn’t recommend a painted metal door from this company. If you’re considering one, understand exactly what the warranty covers and what it doesn’t before you buy.
