PLEASE READ BEFORE BOOKING I can’t believe I let this man into my home. I’m extremely frustrated that I didn’t look more closely at the reviews before booking. While the overall rating sits at 4.6 (somehow), the one-star reviews really do speak for themselves and are easy to overlook among the positives. I wish I’d done my homework properly before hiring James — lesson learned. He turned up, stayed for around five minutes, carried out no work at all, yet asked for £80. I shouldn’t have paid it, but I’m a trusting person and didn’t think to question it at the time. He said he would return the following day, but when that day came, he couldn’t make it. This then became a repeated pattern: promising to attend, cancelling, or giving times and turning up six hours later — if at all. Throughout this period, nothing was resolved. The only “support” offered was being told to turn the machine off and on again, despite us explaining that we had already done this and that it did not fix the issue previously. Communication was extremely poor. Messages often went unanswered for days. When he did respond, he would claim a specific part was required, say he would order it, and then disappear again, blaming delays on suppliers. After reading further reviews, it became clear that this is very much business as usual for this company. We eventually gave up and requested a refund. Interestingly, communication suddenly became instant — very different from before. The refund was refused outright. He denied any responsibility for the lack of service, dismissed all issues raised, and sent irrelevant messages about other jobs that had nothing to do with us. He has since offered half refund, stating that “that’s fair” for both of us. Not quite sure how any of his work ethic and behaviour is fair but there we are. The entire experience has been a mess and a complete waste of my time and money. For anyone reading this: please take the time to read the one-star reviews before appointing JWP. As others have warned, you’re likely to end up out of pocket and no better off than before you asked for help. No doubt he will respond to this review by claiming I'm a liar, as he appears to do with many other negative reviews before continuing the cycle again with new customers. All I can say is: you've been warned. It’s a shame that this kind of thing happens, but its certainly been an important lesson learned for me.
