We had a great experience with Canine Academy! Our 1-year old Beagle-Lab mix, Chief, went through the 10 day board and train with Alex. Before training, Chief was easily distracted in high-stimulation environments. He would often pull on the leash trying to dart after dogs and people on walks and display lots of anxiety. He would not listen the moment we stepped outside the house. We often had trouble with leaving him at home in the crate. After training, we could tell Chief had a much higher sense of confidence in high-distraction situations. Alex built the foundation of clear instruction and guidance in Chief’s training and equipped us with the tools to continue his training at home. During Chief’s go-home demonstration, we saw Chief behaving calmly and listening to our commands with lots of dogs, cats, people, and other distractions around. We are incredibly grateful to Alex, Emily, and the whole team at Canine Academy for giving us the tools to be better and more knowledgeable dog owners!

I am a nurse that started traveling in January. While at my first assignment, I came across Canine Academy. I had done puppy and intermediate training with my dog but he was still reactive around strangers, things with wheels, and had no recall when distracted. With moving to a new environment every 13 weeks and staying in rental spaces, I knew he needed more training. Shannon was amazing at sharing her knowledge and skills with Tucker and I in our small group lessons. He has always been a “good” dog, but I do not think I truly believed he would ever reach the level of obedience that I experienced today! We arrived to West Virginia this week. He was loose in the house for 12+ hrs 2 days this week while I worked. We hiked 3 miles on Wednesday then today found a river front park. He was completely OFF leash the entire time at the park. First encountered a large german shepherd and greeted him nicely then played with him. Later he made friends with 2 off leash pittbulls and they chased and played. He had good recall when they got too far away. He lay calmly next to me when 3 kids went running by and did not bark at a bicycle! I was so proud of him today and I am a very pleased Canine Academy customer!!! Thank you Shannon😊

Alex was our trainer for our puppy, Tua. We cannot express how amazing he and the staff at Canine Academy was with our pup. They always made us feel included by sending us videos and pictures of him the whole week he was gone. Alex was very thorough with teaching us everything we needed to learn with how to handle our pup after the training was done as well! We’ve built a great friendship with our trainer too and can’t wait to keep in touch with him and Canine Academy! Thank you so much for helping our puppy become the best he can be 💙

Had nothing but a great experience working with Canine Academy and our trainer, Alex. We rescued our pup, Rue, from a pretty traumatic past that has left him lacking confidence and ability to reliably and consistently obey commands at home. After the 8 days of training, he immediately came home a different dog. As with any board-and-train program, the majority of the work is on the owners to continue at home training, but Alex has completely supported us, provided us with thorough take home training and knowledge, and equipped us with the confidence to continue on with Rue’s training at home. Although he just graduated this past weekend, we’ve already seen a more confident and overall well mannered pup. All of our anxiety about Rue being gone for 8 days was totally worth it already (and the daily pictures the awesome care team sent us definitely helped that!) 😆 Thank you Alex and everyone at Canine Academy!

We did a board and train in 2023, attended Saturday morning group classes, and do boarding as needed. The care and love my dogs receive while here is above and beyond. I even receive photos of my dogs daily when they're here. Words do no justice of how great this facility is.

I had a fantastic experience learning how to train my german shepherd dog. Alex did a great job answering all my questions and providing invaluable advice throughout our lessons.

We rescued a 10 year old Chiweenie that exhibited significant behavioral issues. We really did not think it would be possible to retrain him due to his age, but Canine Academy felt sure they could help, and they were right. We were considered a difficult case, and they brough their lead trainer, Shannon, as our trainer who was wonderful. She was so patient with him. When we were done, our dog was not only trained, but was more confident too. Their program set us up for success by including several follow up sessions to help us troubleshoot adapting the training to our home. I am so grateful to them for helping us give this dog his confidence back, and to respect our house rules. Their facilities are spacious and clean and our dog loved being there so much that we use them for boarding if we ever need it.

She continues to stay in touch and offer support. My dogs are now so well trained and are set up for a happier future - for them and us. I would recommend Shannon and Canine Academy to anyone!

Took Vienna for some "be calmer" training and Alex did a great job with her. She had been super excitable, and contradictory about her greetings. Now she quickly sits and wiggles while she waits for a greeting. She isn't barking her head off at anyone she can see. I've used her place command a couple of times and it's been very handy.

We had an absolutely incredible experience! The entire staff is friendly, helpful, and encouraging. You can tell they loved our troublemaker, Charley, just as much as we do. They performed something akin to a miracle with him! It’s incredible how they transformed our relationship with our dog, and it’s so great to see the extra freedom he has now that we’re all speaking the same language. Shannon has been there every step of the way since we brought him home. She has been cheering us on with every success and has had tons of advice to help us personalize our routine at home. I cannot recommend Canine Academy enough!

Canine Academy is an incredibly well run establishment. From the initial consult to the training sessions, every visit felt stress free and so helpful. We went through sessions with large dogs that are normally hard to control as well as smaller dogs that do not hold an attention span. Yet, as we went through our classes, we saw enormous growth in our pup, as well as the others. We recommend, 10/10. Worth every penny!

We went to the Lancaster location for our Dodger's classes. Got a brief tour some weeks earlier, was so impressed with the grounds. We scheduled the first available session with their trainer Alex. He, along with the rest of the staff, have been incredibly helpful and personable throughout the entire 6 weeks. We started with a class of 3 but some weeks we were outside with 2 others. We were able to message anytime about "homework" and the e-collar curriculum. Everyone in the family marked a significant improvement in Dodger's overall poise and behavior post-program. And he actually listens to us now. There's a Remind app for the progression of the program but we never got the QR code to get setup so we never used it until last day. Canine Academy is topnotch, put the time in, and your dog will be the better for it.

The staff at Canine Academy were amazing to work with. They took care of our pup like he was their own. Our trainer, Alex, did an amazing job with him and kept in communication with us throughout the stay. We can’t recommend him enough.

Thank you for teaching me how to communicate with my dog, Alex! Even my 5-year old granddaughter is now able to walk with her by her side! Oh, was she proud!

If I could give Canine Academy and our trainer, Emma, more than the maximum 5 stars, I would! Emma is the embodiment of what a skilled dog trainer should be. She is confident and knowledgeable but at the same time, compassionate and empathetic—and just a very fun person to be around! The results and progress our dog made with their ECollar training approach were amazing. It helped us establish effective communication with our dog that would not have been achievable with other methods. Thank you Emma and Canine Academy for your guidance and expertise. We highly recommend Canine Academy to anyone needing training for their pup!

Every aspect of our experience with Canine Academy has been positive! The campus is beautiful, the staff is helpful and supportive, and our trainer Alex is amazing! We placed our stubborn, reactive, too smart for her own good, German Shepherd Dog in their board and train program. Alex is extremely knowledgeable, and has been kind and patient with her and with us... He is a true professional!
