They lied about the tour saying it was fully booked when it wasn’t. Bad experience and they were not willing to help at all

Did a four days with Quechua Expeditions on the Salkantay Trek & short Inca Trail. The sights were unforgettable! Our guide Jose Luis was a quiet but very thoughtful guide. The landscapes were breathtaking and the altitude was not easy but the experience was definitely unforgettable. Quechuas Expeditions also did not cancel on us as we were only 2 on the tour and i think speaks volumes of their service and integrity! :)

We booked as a private group (of 2) for the 5 day Salkantay Trek with Quechuas Expeditions. Overall, we had an amazing hike with some incredible scenery. There were just a few minor issues that took away from the overall experience: - Communications leading up to the trek were a little spotty - We had booked expecting to be staying in the domes for the first 3 nights. However, we were placed in a hut on our second night due to some issue with the domes at our second location. We were informed of this change the night before our trek. - We were told to bring sleeping bags. The reality is that the bedding in the lodging was more than adequate. It really never got that cold. On the more positive side, our guide Hendrik was fantastic. Hendrik communicated well, was very knowledgeable about the region, and was always in good spirits. We had already booked MP tickets and hotel in Aguas Calientes, and Hendrik helped us secure a better time for our tour. Hendrik also helped us with our train tickets. Hendrik was always willing to help us out with requests that were outside the scope of his role as guide. I can highly recommend having Hendrik as your guide for any trip in the region.

Our four days with Quechua Expeditions on the Salkantay Trek were simply unforgettable! Under the guidance of Fernando, we explored breathtaking landscapes and experienced some of the most beautiful places in the Andes. From the majestic Salkantay Trail to the ruins of Llactapata, each stage was a new discovery. The support from Fernando, Chef Julian, and Horse Master Angél was outstanding and contributed significantly to our well-being. Including our wish for a pescetarian diet. Although the adventure wasn't cheap, every minute and every altitude meter was worth the price. We highly recommend Quechua Expeditions and extend our heartfelt thanks to Fernando and the team for this unforgettable experience.

The hike was beautiful, the company was not. There were several miscommunications. The operator, Quechua Expeditions, obviously had not idea what was going on. We paid for sleeping bags and were told the night before our trip that we did not need them. We were also told that the morning of our trip we should eat light at the hotel, because we would have breaks and hour or two after we were picked up, then eat lunch before we started our hike. None of that happened and we did not eat “lunch” until we arrived at the first camp, which was about 4:30pm (a 4.5 hour hike). I was also asked 4 times before the trip started if I was vegetarian. I said yes each time, at no point on the hike was I offered a meal without meat. On the last day, after starting our hike at 4am and walking for 8 hours we were told that lunch was not included. We said that we thought it was and had to wait until it was “checked out”. In addition to all of what I outlined above, there was no information given as to what to expect, bring, or prepare for the hike. We arrived in Cusco without the proper items. As far as I am concerned, this operator was incompetent and should not be scheduling hikes. The only good thing about out trip was the guide and seeing something beautiful.

The hike was beautiful, the company was not. There were several miscommunications, starting with the confirmation and ending with them stealing $20 and not giving us the advertised water bottle and tshirt. We said that we thought it was and had to wait until it was “checked out”. Lastly, it was advertised that we were to receive a water bottle and tshirt. This never happened. I texted the operator of Quechua Expeditions, saying that we had a good time and when would we receive our items and our refund since we did not use sleeping bags. After 3 days when I did not hear from him, I texted again saying that we were leaving in a could of days and would like to resolve things. I have yet to receive any response. In addition to all of what I outlined above, there was no information given as to what to expect, bring, or prepare for the hike. We arrived in Cusco without the proper items. Decent communication on whatsapp. Didn't explain key details like to bring cash to buy entry tickets (people were borrowing because they didn't know). Guide was handling multiple tours and I had to end up making connections on my own to get to the places on my tour which makes me question the value of using a tour operator.

Google, How can I give a million stars? Our group was a very challenge one. 4 kids (12~14 yrs), 2 ladies without any serious work-out and one normal Dad. The expedition started with an intensive pre-meeting. Next morning at 5AM with the porters, we drove to the launching site (took ~2 hrs from Cusco). The 1st day camp site was clean and nice _ lunch and dinner were amazing. You just need to focus on your hiking. Was not cold. A bit noise from dogs and chickens in the village. 2nd day: hardest hiking. started around 6.30am and ended around 6pm. My daughter got altitude sickness a bit and it was raining quite a lot at night. Tough night. My wife almost killed me. We had no energy to enjoy the nice dinner much. 3rd day: Feels really good in the morning. hiking was relatively easy. We ended much early around 4pm. Everyone seemed okay and happy. The view from the camp site was amazing. Last night with the amazing porters_ we thanked and hugged each other. T_T .. Last day of Hiking, started very early in the morning, Somehow, it was a very challenging day for our group. The downhill is very tiring and slippery with sand. a lot slower than expected. Machu Pichu.. world wonder...!! Our guide _ Fernando (Ellappa) He is a saint. very patient, very helpful. It is a unforgettable memory for my family. For sure, it was hard. But, very much recommended while you can. Thanks God for the chance. Peru: Food and Mountain.. want to go back later to check more of Peru. Thanks Quechuas and Fernando...!
