I have just had my first experience of fly fishing under the expert tuition of Jim Wilson. Moorhen fishery is absolutely beautiful and run by an amazing, welcoming and knowledgeable team. I had the most fantastic day and cannot recommend the both the venue and Jim highly enough.

Our ladies fly fishing group frequently fish at Moorhen, such a friendly and welcoming venue. A cuppa and a smile are always waiting on arrival, to go with whatever homemade cake is packed with the fishing gear, and we love the relaxed atmosphere. Three of us on this occasion, and a very enthusiastic 'little one' who was a delight to watch as he started his fly fishing journey. The cafe offer is perfect for a day's fishing experience, a fish finger butty is a must, although, we are partial to a bacon sandwich too. Moorhen is great for those starting out on their fly fishing journey, and also offers a challenge for even the most experienced fisherman. The care and passion taken by Michelle, Jamie, Holly and Karis is evident to any visitor. This is a real Hampshire Jewel and not to be missed.

I was fortunate to have a fly fishing experience at moorhen. My teacher, jim was first class and very knowledgeable and helpful. The whole team at moorhen are extremely friendly and welcoming particularly to newbies like my self. The fish unfortunately didn’t play ball as the weather was very hot. However the very tasty bacon sarnies and tea were very welcome. I would highly recommend to any newbies. Thanks

What a beautiful place! My husband and I booked a fly-fishing lesson as complete beginners, and I honestly wasn't sure it would be something I'd enjoy. That changed the moment we arrived. The owners were so welcoming, friendly, and helpful, making us feel right at home. A special mention to Jim, who patiently guided us through every step of the experience. His knowledge, encouragement, and great sense of humour made learning both easy and enjoyable. Before long, I was completely hooked—pun intended! Whether you're an experienced fly fisher or have never picked up a rod before, I can't recommend this place highly enough. A fantastic experience in a stunning setting, and one we'll definitely remember.

I arranged to take a client to Moorhen fishery, he hadnt been fly fishing for a number of years and i had never tried it, i paid for a coaching session and wow. What a great team, great service, very friendly, always there to help and provide support and the place is amazing and very very well looked after by Jamie and the team. I 100 percent highly recommend a visit.

Went to moorhen fishery with my dad, what a beautiful day I had . The staff are wonderful , so helpful and couldn't do enough. They other anglers would give you alot of advise if your new. We hired a tutorial and we had a guy called Jim. Fantastic guy and certainly gave me the knowledge to be able to fish . If you dont catch your fish you pay for moorhen honor your fish and let you come bk . I will definitely be going back . What a beautiful experience 😍.

First time at this fishery today and my son and I had a fab time. Very welcoming staff and an amazing service from them. The fishing was tough at times but left with 4 amazing fish and some epic battles to land them. We’ll definitely be back.

Yesterday, I had the most peaceful and rewarding fly fishing experience on the lake. The tranquil waters and serene surroundings made for an unforgettable day, especially with the six lovely rainbow trout I caught! A standout feature was the excellent service – the ladies and staff were fantastic, assisting with P's convenience, bagging, weighing, and storing the fish, and even providing complimentary teas and coffees, with that thoughtful option to order bacon or fish finger sandwiches to eat. A truly perfect day of fishing!"

I purchased a fly fishing instruction day for my other half to celebrate his 70th birthday. He hadn't fly fished for more than 15 years. We could not have been made more welcome by all the staff at Moorhen Trout Fishery. He was met by his instructor Jim Wilson who quickly got him back into the swing of things. Going on to catch two lovely Trout with the help of some expert advice from Jim. Well definitely be back to spend some more time at this stunning Fishery in the beautiful Meon Valley. A visit to Moorhen Trout Fishery on 6th and 7th was met with welcoming comfort from our hosts Jamie and Michelle who were very accommodating, providing wonderful complimentary teas and coffees and attention to detail when we landed a trout as well as tending to the lake's clear water and surrounding wildlife with good knowledge especially in the very dry spell this year. The anglers were lovely to meet and chat with and Thank you for the assistance in catching the second trout :) I highly recommend the local honey — it’s tended to with great care, as we learned from the hosts. Thank you and we hope to see you soon.

Amazing place to visit , Me and my wife popped in a few weeks ago to find out about fly fishing lessons on a Sunday morning and we were greeted with smiles and lots of information and we booked there and then for a lesson. a few weeks later we arrived for our lesson and the greeting was first class we both felt that we have known Michelle and James for years and some of the regulars joined in the banter between me and Leah because the lesson had turned into who was going to catch the first fish !! Jim took us for the lesson and he was so so good in explaining all the skills needed to fly fish and he even spent more time then we had paid for which in this day and age is priceless. Me and Leah highly recommend Moorhen Trout fishery !!!!

What an amazing day at Moorhen trout fishery . I’m confined to a wheelchair so fishing and venues are hard to find for my electric wheelchair ,but I found the perfect venue at Moorhen . Not only are Jamie and Michelle the most welcoming of owners but they have made the fishery so accessible with new fishing platforms and grass banks to use in a electric wheelchair , Almost all the lake is fishable from an electric wheelchair or scooter and with assistance a self propelled one could be used but it would be hard work on your own as you are on grass and gravel . ,only one or two places might be a little difficult but only due to the natural terrain and if you can’t walk at all . The lodge and shop are excellent as are the drinks and bacon rolls and nothing is to much trouble for the new owners who also have on going plans for other improvements and amenities in the near future ,I caught two lovely trout as a bonus . If you are disabled in any form and love fly fishing please try Moorhen ,you won’t be disappointed and lots of pictures on their website will confirm this . A big thank you to. Lovely place, immersed in Nature. Canadian duck were around. Fish is abundant to catch ang gives a good fight. Smallest fish I took wa just over 2lb. The taste of the fish is clean and fresh.
