Paul Wentworth of W Smith & Sons oversaw my Mother's funeral earlier this week, I can't speak highly enough of his compassion and attention to detail, the funeral service was flawless: the gentlemen bearers were immaculately dressed and very professional, the Jaguar hearse was gleaming...my Mother would have been very impressed. This is the sixth time my family have engaged the services of W Smith & Sons and we continue to recommend them without reservation.

Neil Scott was very warm, empathic, sympathetic and patient when assessing our wants and needs for the Service. I cant thank WSmith enough. They were able to accommodate my wishes as a traditional family run business, compared to larger corporations who were not as flexible.
I required just a direct cremation as we were going to organise a funeral service/ wake in the family member’s home city at a later date.
Unlike other funeral directors in the area, Roger was able to let me know the date and time for the cremation so i could be there to at least follow my mother’s journey. She was still taken in a hearse and had bearers to take her in which I felt was very dignified.
Additionally the cost for a direct cremation was significantly less than the 3 others I made enquiries with, allowing me to spend more on arranging the service and wake.
Highly recommend them.

This company go above and beyond they are exceptional in what they do Mark was fantastic and the level of support was exceptional from start to finish and beyond they made our funeral bespoke tailor made good prices with caring friendly staff. A choice of chapel of rests to see loved ones and the respect and dignity you would expect old fashioned ways accompanied by modern ideas I could not praise or recommend this company highly enough.
W Smith and Sons performed the funerals of both my mother and father (15 years apart). The service is excellent. Very caring, understanding and warm in the way we were treated. I would not hesitate to recommend them. They are very long established and at a time of upset and emotions we needed a company like them to sensitively help us with the funeral arrangements of our loved ones.
A big thank you to Michael and I think his sons. Everything about my Grandads funeral yesterday was lovely. They made a difficult time seamless and smooth for my parents, who spoke about him so highly.
More than anything for me it was the care, dignity and respect they showed on his final journey from home to the crematorium.
Michael, Thank you all for making his last day, a lovely memory to treasure in time.
