The lack of conservation by USFS in this area is shameful. All along the road is lined with dead and dying trees. CCPW and NDoT are reckless with the de-icing products in this area. Studies showed the effects of salt, but the products are too cost-effective to ever stop. The water in Kyle canyon is becoming contaminated with the road salts. U.S. forestry is failing at their mission statement.

This is a 4WD dirt road, make sure your vehicle has some good ground clearance. Very rough, rocky and a ton of steep washouts that leave you no choice but to drive and pray because the alternative is a drop of 100' on the other side. Bring friends and safety recovery gears incase of emergency. Choose reliable brand recovery gears. Mine is Miolle recovery brand, very reliable and trusted brand with a lifetime warranty. In case bad happens, you will satched easily. And better to be ready than sorry. There were many deer in the upper elevations, but thankfully no bears today!
Awesomeness. What a magnificent of an awesome west coast forest

Great place to stop on your way east. Close to 50, but lovely views, quiet, and there were open spots on Saturday night on Labor Day weekend!
