NYC’s mismanagement here! Broken water fountains(broken for years), some ignorant staff still wearing masks from COVID.? No public access to the beautiful rooms of the library, literally only the hallways, stairs and information area. Did not get to see a book. Even though the city managers fail miserably here the Architecture is amazing. Shameful that the public is not allowed to see the interior of this amazing people’s building. Another NYC disgrace.

The library stood out because of the fact that I didn’t know what it was going to look like, the architecture is amazing inside and out. If you go to the top floor, there are amazing places for quiet study or reading, and there are alot of paintings which have interesting descriptions and history beside them. Unfortunately, the library was closed but it did look a lot more modern than the rest of the place. The art exhibit is also very nice, as well as some tinted glass arts on the higher floors. I would recommend you go here if you’re a fan of art or are just looking for somewhere quiet to study

Two lions, patience and fortitude , guard the entrance to this beautiful Beaux-Arts building on 5th Avenue. There are permanent and temporary exhibits featuring books such as a first edition of The Wealth of Nations by Adam Smith in 1776,a Gutenberg Bible from 1455, and James Baldwin’s “Giovanni’s Room”.
There is so much more in this main branch of the library. The Treasures exhibit includes Charles Dickens’ writing desk and chair and the original Winnie the Po and friends.
Exhibits and rare book displays are all free. The library and its many branches contain 55 million books.

VERY INAPPROPRIATE employee in the south room physically got INAPPROPRIATE with me. He ran up to me, got into my personal space, and pulled my phone out of my hand. He insisted that I was recording. I was not. My phone was in my hand because i didnt have pockets. Are employees here allowed to physically take things out of people's hands without permission?
