This morning, just when I thought my 60-ish old body had fossilized into a human-shaped rock, Don Harkcom in Lacey proved me gloriously wrong. This massage magician (licensed 2005) took my towering 6’4”, 270-pound frame and origami-ed me into shapes that would make a contortionist blush. Don’s deep tissue technique began with compression, digging deep, unearthing knots and toxins that had been hiding in my muscles for years, including one doozy in my neck that had stumped previous massage therapists. He worked it like a Swiss watchmaker, coaxing out the kinks with ease. My neck hasn’t seen this kind of flexibility since I was heading soccer balls in high school back when dinosaurs roamed the Earth. His kneading technique deserves its own measure. From my upper thighs to my calves, Don’s hands coaxed life back into muscles I’d forgotten existed. For this old man, it was like turning back the clock. Don’s fingertip pressure around my upper back was a tactical masterpiece. In a surprising twist, Don uncovered trigger points I didn’t know I had. It was like he had a map to buried treasure, and that treasure was pain relief I hadn’t experienced since... well, ever. Hands down, this was the best deep tissue massage of my life. Don Harkcom isn’t just a massage therapist; he’s a muscle whisperer, a knot negotiator, a tension terminator.

I just had an hour session with Don. I was warmly greeted at the front door and things got even better after that. Don is a great conversationalist and has a way to putting you at ease. The room is well set with appropriate lighting and ambiance. And then those hands and elbows of his definitely got into my knots. I would say don't be afraid to ask him questions, he has a wealth of knowledge, patience and experience. Thoroughly worth the visit. I felt the difference immediately. Oh and don't forget to follow his after service advice.
