The scope of the project was to widen the entrance to the property and replace and extend the old tarmac driveway with block paving. In addition, all paths and front patio area to be relaced with paving slabs. We are really impressed with the professional workmanship and quality of the finished project - it has transformed the front of the house. We would highly recommend Defined Builds.

We wanted a full renovation to our flat, but were limited on time before we moved overseas. The Defined Builds team were incredibly helpful from start to finish. Endorsement Reference Our works involved a rear and side extension, re-work of the entire ground floor, along with a re-do of our first floor bathroom and decorating some bedrooms. From the initial chats we had with James from Defined Builds, we knew he was our preferred choice. He is upfront and honest from the get go which was a big selling point for us. This honesty was clear throughout the house works - James was always able to give an honest opinion and advise us on inevitable obstacles we came across throughout the process, and always gave us the best advice financially without compromising on quality. One thing you can be certain with Defined Builds is the high quality of their work - the entire team are absolute perfectionists and have an eye for detail which means you never have to point an issue out to them. We have never had to fault their work which is a testament to the quality of their work (especially as my dad always looked into the detail on every aspect at every stage). James also spent a significant amount of time discussing the works with us to keep us in the loop and address any worries we had, even on aspects that were out of his scope of work (e.g. we had the kitchen fitted by another supplier, but he spent time discussing the logistics and process of this with us). The team are a friendly bunch who make the effort to be friendly with our neighbours which meant we had no issues or complaints. They also tidied up after themselves at the end of each day so the house was always tidy. James is also very reasonable and fair, as well as honest with the time the team have spent on certain additional work we had them do. The more we saw the high quality of their work, the more we ended up asking them to do. Once the works were completed, we have been extremely happy with our decision to go with Defined Builds as everything has been done to a high quality and we know it is rare to not have a single complaint on the final outcome. If quality and personable touch is what you are after, you will not regret choosing them.

I would highly recommend Defined Builds and have passed on details to a number of people already. The work done was excellent and the team were great; friendly and reliable. I was living in the house during the build and they made sure that they left it in a good state and secure. The team built a ground floor extension for me that involved complex’s ground works. They did the build, decorating, flooring and kitchen. They’ve also since been back to re-render the outside of the house and I’ve asked them to also do the bathroom next year. A great company!

James is easy to get on with and his team are equally engaging. ( and characters in there own right). Only niggle would be the VAT. I am sure it's the same with all trades but getting a quote and then finding out VAT is on top gets irritating. But please note the five stars. As he will point out, he is not the cheapest but he is not the most expensive. Quality is high and I expect his business to flourish.

Defined Builds completed a single story rear extension to create an open plan kitchen diner as well as creating a patio and other small internal porch alterations. I can’t recommend James and Defined Builds highly enough. James and his entire team were a pleasure to work with. I would advise getting James involved as early as possible in your project, he has a wealth of knowledge and contacts to make sure everything is covered and reviewed properly before ground is broken. Through the job James and his team were always tidy and considerate, providing updates throughout and open to discussing the details. Attention to detail was superb and and it shows in the finished project. They were always open to hearing my design ideas and honest on what would and would not work but always putting the customer first. James, his team and contacts created a superb overall finish and come highly recommend.

We contacted James to design and build our loft conversion. He appealed to us as he is local and a smaller company and when we met he assured us he would be on site and running the job rather than subbing it out like other bigger firms do. I was initially quite nervous about starting such a big project but James put my mind at rest with his extensive knowledge of the process and wealth of ideas. He took on board all of our ideas and turned them into a wonderful space that has made such a difference to our house. We were so Impressed with the craftsmanship and attention to detail of all of James’ team, plus everyone was so friendly! James was great at communicating what was happening throughout the project which made a big difference to us. Another positive was that although James’ initial quote was on the high side, it was for the whole job unlike other companies who quoted a basic price but we then found out there were lots of hidden extras. Overall our experience with defined builds was great, so much so that we contacted them again to build our extension!
